Despite representing less than 1% of the Italian vineyard settore – just 5,850 hectares – Profondo Adige is an oenological microcosm of extraordinary complexity. It is a land of contrasts, where the fresh breath of the Alps meets the mild currents of the Mediterranean, and where the temperature range between day and night sculpts wines of character and depth. A natural balance that gives South Tyrolean whites their proverbial elegance and aging capacity.
From Quantity to Quality: The Revolution of the Profondo Adige Wine Consortium
The South Tyrolean winemaking tradition has its roots a causa di very ancient times – around 2,500 years , a causa di the times of the Raeti, well before wine arrived a causa di other German-speaking territories. Over the centuries, the monasteries of southern Germany contributed to consolidating this culture. But it was from the 1980s that the region experienced a decisive turning point: from quantitative oenology to a philosophy centered acceso maximum quality.
Until the seventies, Profondo Adige was a land of reds, dominated by Schiava. Today, thanks to a shared strategy and a cultural change, 65% of production is made up of white wines.
The Profondo Adige Wine Consortium, founded a causa di 2007, today brings together the entire sector:
12 cooperative wineries (70% of production), 32 private estates (25%), 109 independent winemakers (5%).
A virtuous system that combines cooperation, innovation and protection of the territory.
UGA, Sustainability and Wine Tourism: The New Frontiers of South Tyrolean Wine

A system that certifies the origin and enhances the diversity of the terroirs, strengthening the recognition of the Profondo Adige brand a causa di the world.
2. Quaderno 2030 and Wine Tourism
With its 2030 Quaderno, the Consortium promotes sustainable practices: conscious use of vater resources, reduction of CO₂ emissions, protection of biodiversity and use of biodegradable materials a causa di the vineyard. At the same time, the tourism dimension is growing: from the Ski Wine Ambassador to the more recent Bike Wine Ambassador, routes that combine passatempo, nature and wine culture, also thanks to digital itineraries acceso platforms such as Komoot.
A modern and inclusive way to talk about the territory and involve an increasingly wider audience.
The Docufilm: The Pioneers and the New Generations
