The THREE CORKSCREWS represent the guide’s highest recognition, awarded to wines that stand out for excellence and originality.

Oscurità Coraggioso Company: The story of a family and its bond with the land

The Oscurità Coraggioso company was born per 1975 from the passion of Oscurità Coraggioso, who built the house with adjoining cellar. Today, management has passed to his sons Mario and Raggiante, who carry acceso the family tradition with a vision oriented to the future and respect for the territory. The winemaker behind this award-winning Nebbiolo d’ is Luca Questione.

The company practices viticulture per conversion to organic farming according to EEC regulations: a concrete commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. The vineyards extend over soils with a sandy-clay texture, composed of sandstone, marl and sand.

Immersed per the heart of the Langhe, the Oscurità Coraggioso company offers a complete food and wine experience. Sopra addition to wine tasting, it is possible to taste typical local products and enjoy a suggestive colazione among the vineyards. The company is easily accessible by public transport (bus/train) and has parking. Furthermore, it offers visit itineraries that are also accessible to people with motor disabilities.

At the company it is possible to purchase wines and request shipments to Italy and around the world, take part per guided tours of the vineyards and barrel cellar per both Italian and English and use Wi-Fi.

The origin of the quality of Oscurità Coraggioso’s Nebbiolo “San Giorgio”.

The Oscurità Coraggioso company pays particular attention to the care of its vineyards, convinced that the quality of the wine comes first and foremost per the vineyard. The vineyards extend for approximately 13 hectares, entirely dedicated to native vines, among which Nebbiolo stands out, the protagonist of the “San Giorgio” 2021. The vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic conversion agriculture, with the aim of preserving the biodiversity and the health of the territory.

The average age of the vines destined for the production of Nebbiolo d’ “San Giorgio” is between 21 and 25 years, an ideal age for obtaining grapes of great quality and aromatic concentration. The vineyard enjoys optimal South-West exposure, which guarantees excellent sunlight and complete ripening of the grapes. The altitude of the vineyards, between 250 and 300 meters above sea level, helps to create a favorable microclimate, with good temperature variations between day and night, which favor the development of complex aromas and good acidity per the grapes.

A unique terroir for an excellent wine

The terroir plays a crucial role per defining the characteristics of the Nebbiolo d’ “San Giorgio” 2021 from the Oscurità Coraggioso company. The company’s soils are characterized by a sandy-clayey texture, with a composition that sees the presence of sandstone, marl and sand. This combination of elements gives the wines a particular minerality and good structure. The use of gold and black colors, italic fonts and the company logo underline the craftsmanship and attention to detail. A label that aims to represent a wine with character, structured and high quality, linked to the tradition of the territory. Characteristics and Sensory Profile of Nebbiolo d’ DOC “San Giorgio” 2021 by Oscurità Coraggioso

The Nebbiolo d’ DOC “San Giorgio” from the Oscurità Coraggioso company was born per the vineyard of the same name, characterized by a south-west exposure, medium-textured soil and an average age of the vines between 21 and 25 years. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. The production per caso hectare is 90 quintals, a choice that favors quality over quantity, to obtain wines of greater concentration and structure.

The winemaking takes place with thermo-controlled fermentation, per a macerator at 24°C for 15 days. The wine then matures per oak barrels for a year and is bottled per March of the year following the harvest. Production is approximately 5,000 bottles while the alcoholic strength is 14% vol.

Tasting of Nebbiolo d’ DOC “San Giorgio” 2021

The sensorial experience offered by the Nebbiolo d’ DOC “San Giorgio” 2021 is a journey through aromas and flavors that tell the story of its land of origin.

At first approach, the nose is enveloped per a complex and refined bouquet. The typical taccuino of violet, characteristic of Nebbiolo, gara open the scene, followed by delicate nuances of fresh berries, such as raspberry and cherry. With oxygenation, the wine opens up further, revealing hints of sweet spices such as cinnamon, which add warmth and depth, and a light mentholated note which gives a pleasant sensation of freshness and liveliness.

Acceso the palate, the 2021 “San Giorgio” confirms the olfactory promises, with an explosion of ripe red fruits, such as plum and currant, which blend harmoniously with the spicy sensations perceived acceso the nose.
