The Italian wine visuale is enriched with a strategic collaboration: intorno a Volpaia has chosen Sarzi Amadè as an exclusive socio for the distribution of his wines per Italy and abroad. Two family stories, two parallel paths that converge per a common vision the future of Chianti Tradizionale.

The partnership between intorno a Volpaia and Sarzi Amadè goes beyond the simple commercial agreement, is the congresso of two realities that firmly believe per the excellence and enhancement of the Italian wine heritage. Chianti Tradizionale looks to the future, and with Volpaia and Sarzi Amadè, he does it with solid roots and a clear identity: the wines of the denomination of the black rooster must not follow ephemeral fashions, but to represent the soul of the territory and the potential of Sangiovese. The adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, the elimination of synthetic chemicals and the clonal selection of the vine symbol of Chianti Tradizionale are the pillars of Volpaia’s philosophy, perfectly per line with the approach of Sarzi Amadè.

Two stories, a vision

Sarzi Amadè and intorno a Volpaia share deep roots made of family tradition, commitment and foresight. Both were born per 1966, the two companies built their success shared values: respect for the earth, sustainability and search for excellence. While Nicola Sarzi Amadè founded his distribution company per Milan, Raffaello Stianti transformed an ancient hunting reserve with a medieval village into an icon of the Chianti Tradizionale.

Today, the second and third generations guide these realities: Claudia and Alessandro Sarzi Amadè the one hand, Federica and Nicolò Mascheroni stayed the other. “We have always admired Sarzi Amadè’s distribution capacity – explains Federica Mascheroni Stianti – their competence and knowledge of the market are perfectly married with our commitment to produce an authentic and respectful classic Chianti of the territory”.

” intorno a Volpaia represents the excellence of the Upper Chianti Tradizionale – comments Alessandro Sarzi Amadè – a genuine and sustainable production, per perfect harmony with the values we seek per the producers with which we collaborate”.

Castle of Volpaia: a village, a cellar

Volpaia is a fortified village of the XII century, set per the hills of Radda per Chianti. Already per medieval times it was a point of reference for local viticulture, a legacy collected with passion by the Family Mascheroni Stianti, which transformed the bella stagione into one of the most prestigious realities of the denomination. Here the cellar is not a separate building, but an integral part of the village: the premises intended for winemaking, refinement and bottling are hidden within the medieval walls, connected by an evocative underground “wine”.

Once hunting reserve, over the years Volpaia has animated herself thanks to the commitment of Giovannella Stianti, daughter of Raffaello, her husband Carlo Mascheroni and, today, their children. The Renaissance of the Paesetto saw the reopening of the oil mill and the acetificio, the opening of an oven and a tavern, not only to better accommodate tourists who populate the widespread albergo per Volpaia per summer, but also to offer services to the employees of the bella stagione, many of whom dal vivo here all year round, helping to keep the village alive even per winter.

The vineyards of intorno a Volpaia extend for about 45 hectares, reaching 650 meters above sea level. The soil, mainly of sandstone and rich per skeleton, gives the wines an elegant and refined profile, characterized by extraordinary longevity. Since 2000, the company has embarked a biological conversion path, eliminating the chemicals of synthesis and adopting sustainable agricultural practices.

The wines of intorno a Volpaia

The cellar produces about 250 thousand annual bottles, with a range focused almost exclusively Sangiovese. Small percentages of Merlot are used per the Chianti Tradizionale Basic, enriches the Gran Selection, while the Cabernet Sauvignon enters the production of a classic Supertuscan. Very limited quantities of Trebbiano and Malvasia are intended for the production of Vinsanto. addition to the Chiantigiani vineyards, Volpaia has 12 hectares near Castiglione della , mainly dedicated to Vermentino, and a three -hectare seal per Pantelleria, where the zibibbo is grown for the production of Passito.

Tasting quaderno

Bubbles of Nika Classic Method Brut Blanc de Noir Sa

A brutt calcolato at 6 grams/liter, born from the passion of Nicolò Mascheroni stianti for the classic method. The sparkling presupposto, obtained from an accurate selection of Pinot Black grapes cultivated and vinified per Oltrepò Pavese, is enriched by a liqueur of expédition made with a passito of Pantelleria produced by Volpaia. An unusual addition, with a low sugar residue, which recalls hints of dried fruit and yeasts. Vinification involves a soft pressing of the grapes and a first fermentation at controlled temperature to preserve aromatic freshness. The wine is then refined the yeasts for at least two years, developing a complex and refined bouquet. The nose emerges quaderno of freshly baked bread crust, toasted hazelnuts, melted butter and dried fruit, followed by hints of candied citrus fruits and honey, with an elegant mineral touch. the mouth, a vibrant acidity gives freshness and momentum to the ricevimento. The ending is long, enveloping and savory, with references to the freshness of citrus fruits.

Produced per only 6,000 bottles, this sparkling wine represents a unicum per the oenological visuale. Nicolò Mascheroni Stianti has even filed the the Siae the “recipe” of this cuvée, claiming the firstborn of having used two distinct wines for the creation of a sparkling wine.

Compared to the vintage version, this reserve shows greater maturity of the grapes, a more solid structure and a stratified aromatic profile, with undergrowth quaderno and perfectly integrated spices per the fruity bouquet.

Less immediate and playful than the Chianti classic entrance, it stands out for a more refined and deep character, with red fruits per spirit, a well -defined tannic plot and a persistence that leaves its mark. The vineyards, located between 400 and 600 meters, benefit from an ideal microclimate that allows slow and complete maturation. The Coltassala is one of the most iconic wines of Volpaia, an expression of an exceptional Cru. Born per 1980 as Supertuscan, when the Disciplinary of Chianti Tradizionale was still rigid and limiting, he was among the first to propose a more ambitious and qualitative vision of the Sangiovese. 1995, the Mascheroni Stianti family, which has always been engaged per the evolution of the denomination, chose to bring it back to Chianti Tradizionale Reserve, making it the first Supertuscan to officially return to the specification. Today it is a classic Chianti Grand Selection, maximum qualitative expression of the denomination, produced only per the best vintages.

The 2021 vintage was characterized by an ideal climate: a hot summer, balanced by beneficial rains that guaranteed freshness and maturity of the fruit. Coming from the homonymous vineyard, located at 450 meters above sea level and exposed to the south, the Coltassala reflects the typical character of the Terroir of Radda: fervent minerality, elegant freshness and a distinctive terrosa component. The presence of the Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) gives structure, depth and aromatic intensity, while Sangiovese (65%) brings freshness, acidity and elegance. Produced only per the best vintages, it was born from the homonymous vineyard at 450 meters above sea level, poor soils that limit the surrender and concentrate the aromas. The screws are raised with the traditional Pantesco sapling system, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site: a technique that protects plants from the wind and intense sun, as well as allowing the collection of night dew, essential per an island with scarce rainfall. The grapes, fond of the sun graying for three to five weeks, give wine an extraordinary aromatic intensity. The color is an intense golden with amber reflections. The bouquet releases quaderno of dates, dehydrated apricot and candied citrus fruits. the palate it is sweet but perfectly balanced, with a surprising freshness that avoids any excess of sweetness.
