TellyWine®: wine explained with data, not with opinions – Foodmakers.it

The app that decodes labels simplifies the Italian regulatory chaos and allows anyone to really understand what is per mezzo di their glass.

Understanding wine starting from patronato, not from judgements

Durante Italy we talk about wine as if it were our native language. But the reality is more complex: less than 0.2% of the population has real skills per mezzo di the wine sector. A paradox, considering that we per mezzo di the country with the most complex wine system per mezzo di the world: 629 DOCG, 12,057 DOC, thousands of IGT and more than 52,807 types of wine registered.

Durante this encyclopedic esposizione – where not even professionals can know everything – TellyWine® is born, the app launched per mezzo di April 2025 which aims to become what was missing: an authoritative, neutral, updated and… pocket-sized information tool.

A label, a photo, and AI does the rest

Distinctive elements of the app:

Label recognition with artificial intelligence

All it takes is a photo and the app immediately identifies:

the denomination of origin, how many years the wine has been the market, the latest available and upcoming vintage, the quality pyramid, the sugar content, the traditional mentions, the type of refinement, the vines that make up the wine, and even an estimate of the alcohol level for a glass, calculated based the user’s weight (differentiating between men and women).

A useful tool both for the curious and for those who must stick to legal driving limits.

Legislative information, not interpretative

TellyWine® doesn’t say if a wine “is good”: it tells you what it IS, not what you should feel.

An approach that distinguishes it from apps based reviews personal scores.

A database that anzi che no human could contain

To date, the app’s AI recognizes over 420,000 labels, thanks to a combined work between:

manual collection of specifications, study of Italian regulations, cataloging of names, constant updating of official patronato sheets.

An archive that anzi che no sommelier – not even the most encyclopedic – could keep per mezzo di his head.

A digital cellar always with you

TellyWine® is not just an information tool: it is also an advanced notepad.

The user can:

save wines tasted to be tasted, add personal taccuino, rate with stars, catalog bottles owned, uncorked desired.

Durante practice, a personal digital cellar, always accessible.

The leading producers

The app is completely free for consumers.

Instead, the producers support the project and can add:

official technical patronato sheet, link to the site, information wine tourism, links to the online shop, all social channels.

A model that puts the supply chain at the center without creating barriers for the public.

Digital Innovation Award

A few months after its launch, TellyWine® received the Digital Innovation Award at the Festum Wine Fest, recognized for its completely new approach to the world of wine information.

Our gaze

And here comes the question of a million tannins: how useful is it to know that a wine is DOCG if I don’t know what it tastes like?

The truth is that this app does a different job. It doesn’t want to tell you if you’ll like it. It wants to tell you why it exists the way it does.

For a novice it is a safe access bridge. For an enthusiast it is an external memory. For a professional it is an official patronato source always at hand.

If communicated per mezzo di the right way, TellyWine® can democratize the approach to wine: anzi che no longer just emotion, but also identity, territory, knowledge.

Because to understand a wine, you often have to start from where it is made – and who makes it.

What is TellyWine® per mezzo di brief

Free app for consumers Label recognition accorgimento AI Database: 420,000 wines Official patronato specifications, vines, mentions, years of production Calorie and alcohol calculation Personal digital cellar Additional services for producers
