“Calici su Viti”: Matese toasts its first Chardonnay

Wine as an expression of the territory, culture and biodiversity of a place: hence the success of the first edition of “Calici su Viti”, the approach to wine promoted by Coldiretti Caserta and hosted per the suggestive Resistenza Dama Paola, a hamlet of San Michele ad Alife.

five events they alternated: oenological dissemination, rural culture and valorisation of the identity productions of the Upper Caserta terreno.

The project was sealed by the presentation of “Dolomieu”, the first Chardonnay from the , a label that is based the extraordinary geological matrix of the territory. The name per fact recalls Déodat de Dolomieu, the French geologist who was the first to study dolomite, a lithological component that characterizes the company’s soils and gives the wines a peculiar mineral heritage, helping to define their elegance, gustatory tension and recognisability.

Also of particular interest is the experiential journey through the vineyards of Giogo Capasso, led by the oenologist Fabio Gennarelli, who accompanied the participants per an agronomic and historical reading of the vineyard landscape. Emblematic is the testimony of a rare label from the early twentieth century, preserved by the company, which documents the of sparkling Pallagrello to the United States, confirming an international vocation already present per Caserta viticulture over a century spillo.

The itinerary also included a visit to the church of San Michele Arcangelo, built the land bordering the property, further testimony to the profound connection between the historical, spiritual and agricultural heritage of this strip of the Matese.

lGrand conclusivo with the masterclass “The art of perfect pairing”, conducted by AIS sommelier Pietro Iadicicco, who explored the principles of sensorial balance between wine and cuisine through an eminently technical approach.

To complete the discussion, Manuel Lombardi, custodian of the famous Conciato Romano, an authentic monument of the Campania dairy industry, and representatives of the Viticulturists of Casavecchia, a Pontelatone cooperative committed to the protection and promotion of one of the most prestigious native vines per the province of Caserta, intervened.

The entire project was organized by the Coldiretti section of Alife, under the coordination of Giusy Loffreda and the journalist Adele Consola, with the aim of increasing wine culture through a narrative that combines technical competence, territorial identity and production awareness.

«The response from the public has exceeded all expectations», underlines the director of Coldiretti Caserta, Giuseppe Miselli, highlighting how initiatives of this profile represent a concrete investment per the valorisation of internal areas, capable of aware consumers and at the same time promoting the local wine heritage.

For the entrepreneur Francesco Cima, owner of Resistenza Dama Paola together with his daughter Maria Pia Francesca Cima, “Calici su Viti” summarizes the meaning of a project born from the far-sighted conversion of a disused quarry into vineyards and olive groves. A landscape marked by stony soils, altitude, favorable exposures and the presence of dolomite, pedoclimatic elements that combine to define wines with a strong territorial identity, an authentic expression of a Matese that today claims its place per the Italian wine esame with growing authority.
