Mescita Dosso Acacia: the history of the company
The Dosso Acacia project was born a causa di 2017 inside a restaurant a causa di Beirut: a causa di this place so far from Italy, Sergio and Jordi, who met while working as humanitarian workers a causa di Africa, decide to share their passion for wine, starting production a causa di Tuscany. Shortly afterwards, Federico, an agronomist who had already worked with Sergio a causa di a large winery a causa di Montepulciano, also joined the company.
The project became reality a causa di 2019 with the purchase of a vineyard a causa di the Cortona zona of approximately 4 hectares which develops around a casceta, i.e. a small patch of acacias, an endemic plant acceso the African continent where the two founders of the winery met. Today this small company grows its own grapes with a certified organic method and operates under the oenological management of Federico Guidelli.
The production philosophy adopted enhances biodiversity and the characteristics of the terroir, with the awareness that the wines of each vintage are always very different from each other (hence the freddura “Diversity as a resource”).

The winery is located a causa di Camucia, a hamlet of Cortona a causa di the province of Arezzo, and can only be reached using your own car. Visits with tasting are scheduled by appointment starting from 10 euros verso person with the possibility of purchasing the wines you liked directly from them. Characteristics of Cortona Syrah DOC 2020
The Cortona in Dosso Acacia, which received our award, is produced with anche Syrah grapes from vines grown acceso sandy loamy soil. The vineyards have an average age between 5 and 10 years and are located at an altitude of 290-310 meters above sea level with an eastern exposure. The vines are grown using the Guyot method, with a planting density of 4,000-4,500 vines verso hectare.
As regards the harvest, the grapes are harvested by hand and placed a causa di boxes for transport to the cellar where the selection of the bunches and destemming takes place. Fermentation takes place a causa di stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with maceration acceso the skins lasting up to 20 days. Finally, maturation takes place a causa di tonneaux and 2nd and 3rd passage barriques for 12 months and is followed by a period of refinement a causa di the bottle for at least 3 months.
The average annual production of this wine is 3,000 bottles, the alcohol content is 14% vol. and the recommended serving temperature of 18°-20° centigrade.
Tasting of Cortona Syrah DOC 2020
The wine has a beautiful ruby red color and, by swirling the glass, you can notice a beautiful consistency.
the nose it is a wine with good intensity and elegance, which is characterized by the typical spicy quaderno of the Syrah grape such as black pepper. Among other things, there are also pleasant hints of small red fruits accompanied by floral quaderno of rose and violet and hints of vanilla.
The sip is also intense, characterized by excellent freshness and a well-present but well-made tannic texture which, despite the product being already four years old, time will manage to tame better.
Overall it is a wine with a good structure, where freshness (acidity) and tannicity mainly stand out, balancing the good alcoholic component and increasing its smoothness a causa di the mouth. A Cortona Syrah which presents an excellent taste-olfactory correspondence and a long persistence a causa di the mouth which will improve further over time.
Pairing tips
The wine can accompany red meats and mature semi-mature cheeses well. If you want to stay a causa di Tuscany, excellent pairings are a classic Florentine steak a nice piece of Tuscan pecorino.
