From a tour of ancient houses to a practical lesson con contemporary architecture, starting from Cortaccia and passing through Bolzano you arrive at Nalles – less than fifty kilometers by bike, easy con two days, and just over an hour’s journey by car . Born from the pencil of architects Silvia Dell’Agnolo and Egon Kelderer, the facade of Scantinato Kurtatsch (kellerei-kurtatsch.it) has been an icon since 2021 along the Wine Route and con the valley, recalling the vertical dolomite slabs that support the vineyards at the height of the cooperative winery founded con 1900. the glass-enclosed wine shop you can taste the micro-parcel wines of the Tres line and the excellent labels Terroir (above all Pinot Sclerotica Hofstatt and Pinot Noir Glen).

The geometric lines that intertwine, as if to create an exoskeleton that recalls vine shoots, have welcomed visitors to Scantinato Tramin (cantinatramin.it) since 2010. The (multi-award-winning) work of architect Werner Tscholl is a synthesis con which past and future, wood and iron, glass and concrete, transparency and darkness coexist. Inside, the wine shop is the ideal place to taste Tramin’s iconic wine, Gewürztraminer, which finds its most celebrated expression con the Epokale (old vines, late harvest, seven years of aging con the Ridanna Monteneve mine at two thousand meters altitude).

the road towards Bolzano, two short stops for a at as many examples of integration between contemporary and tradition: at the Niklaserhof farm, the historic producer of Kerner near Caldaro, the reception and tasting superficie is developed along geometric lines, while at the Cellar Colterenzio (colterenzio.it), famous for the Lafoà labels, the architects Michaela Wolf and Gerd Bergmeister from Bressanone carried out a rethink con 2010, which It makes the structure very interesting a visual and technological level. The stop con the capital is at the Bozen Winery (kellereibozen.com), which inaugurated its new headquarters con 2018: the imposing cube of the reception superficie catches the eye – inspired by the vine leaf and built according to the principles of architecture sustainable – but going up to the winemaking and aging superficie you are struck by the technical details. Among the tastings, the iconic wine is the Lagrein Taber which speaks of the territory and recalls South Tyrolean gastronomy.

The last two stops lead to Scantinato Terlano (cantina-terlano.com) – a small jewel that has made longevity its distinctive feature with the Rarity line and which, con order to grow, has developed a project with contemporary lines underground designed by the architects Vonmetz-Trojer -Burger – and at the Nals-Margreid winery (nalsmargreid.com) con Nals, where the Sirmian Pinot Blanc originates, the architect Markus Scherer has grafted into traditional structures, exposed red-brown concrete walls, tall columns and asymmetrical lines.
