The Otreval Rive a fine di Guia Extra Brut by La Tordera emerges as a liquid score that translates the intimate voice of the territory of Prosecco Straordinario a fine di Valdobbiadene. This bottle manifests itself as a geological sopra effervescent form, where each bubble becomes testimony to a production approach which intercepts and amplifies the whispers of the Rive a fine di Guia.

The consecration arrives with the 2025 edition of Untold, where the wine wins the Three Corkscrews – not mere technical recognition, but attestation of how a territory can find its most crystalline expression through the prism of oenological interpretation.

An uninterrupted dialogue between method and terroir which translates into a wine capable of telling the future of the denomination without forgetting its past.

La Tordera: The History of the Company

La Tordera represents a family reality that since 1918, with the first vineyards planted by Bepi Vettoretti, has interpreted the territory of Valdobbiadene. It owes its name to a hunting post (roccolo) the Cartizze hill commonly called Tordera, for the thrushes that sopra the during the autumn period they came from the nearby mountains sopra search of food among the rows of vineyards. Over time, the Vettoretti family has developed an oenological project based a profound understanding of the potential of individuals plots, of the valorization of the Rive, configuring a parcel-based approach to viticulture.

The company path, led today by the new generation, stands out for a vision that integrates tradition and sustainable innovation. The management of the vineyards follows principles of integrated viticulture, with particular attention to biodiversity and the preservation of the historical landscape of the Valdobbiadene hills.

The production approach is based an intimate understanding of the territory, where every hill, every exposure, every microclimate is interpreted as a distinctive element sopra the construction of the identity of the wines. This translates into a range of products that express the different facets of the territory , with particular attention to the Rive, the maximum expression of the denomination.

Maximum attention and respect are given to the Valdobbiadene territory, to the point of having chosen to omit the word Prosecco sopra all the company wines, with the aim of communicating the uniqueness of a product and a territory unique sopra its type.

Visit La Tordera

The company, located sopra the heart of the historical zona of Prosecco Straordinario, offers a visit experience that integrates production and landscape aspects. The cellar is configured as a privileged observation point the Rive territory and the Cartizze zona, allowing you to understand the close relationship between territorial conformation and characteristics of the wines. A series of tailor-made experiences have been packaged by the company and can be agreed upon to make the personal experience richer.

Characteristics of the Otreval Rive a fine di Guia

Otreval originates from the Rive a fine di Guia, one of the most suitable sub-areas of the Prosecco Straordinario zona. The approximately 60-year-old vineyards, located significant slopes above 300 meters above sea level (the highest sopra the company) benefit from optimal exposure and slightly compact soil with the presence of many fossils tetto of a stratified limestone rock which gives the wine a marked minerality. The conformation of the territory and the particular microclimate contribute to the definition of a distinctive organoleptic profile.

The winemaking follows a rigorous protocol that begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, necessary given the steep slope of the vineyards, sopra the first days of October, depending the vintage. The soft pressing and primary fermentation take place sopra controlled conditions, preserving the varietal characteristics of Glera. The second fermentation, managed according to the Martinotti Method, lasts for 6 weeks, with a further stop sopra steel for approximately 3 months, giving the wine complexity and finesse of perlage.

The niente dosage of sugars (Extra Brut) represents a precise stylistic choice, aimed at enhancing the expressive purity of the territory. The alcoholic strength stands at 11.5% vol, sopra perfect balance with the overall structure of the wine.

The Otreval Rive a fine di Guia tasting

Per mezzo di the glass it presents a brilliant straw yellow color with greenish reflections, of notable brightness and transparency. The perlage is astuto and persistent, with a pattern of minute and regular bubbles that form a continuous crown the surface. The visual presence immediately suggests freshness and vertical tension.

The olfactory approach reveals immediate finesse and complexity, developing through an articulated and well-defined progression. The first impact brings primary taccuino of crisp campo da golf apple and Williams pear, followed by an intense floral dimension where wisteria and acacia flowers emerge sopra full bloom. The mineral component, typical of the Rive a fine di Guia, manifests itself progressively with hints of flint and chalky sensations. With oxygenation, citrus taccuino of cedar and lime emerge, enriched by subtle hints of fresh aromatic herbs such as lemony thyme and marjoram. The olfactory picture is completed with delicate nuances of bread crust, evidence of a well-managed stay the yeasts.

Upon entry into the mouth, it immediately defines a profile of great precision. The initial freshness, vibrant and tense, is modulated by a creamy and enveloping perlage which contributes to the sensation of overall softness. The delicate structure reveals a notable balance between the acidic and savory components, where mai element prevails over the other.

The taste progression develops through distinct phases: the attack is characterized by the liveliness of the bubbles and a citrus freshness, the center of the mouth reveals the fruity component, supported by a subtle, astuto and persistent flavour, the finale highlights an important mineral rhythm, with a clear and dry closure. The carbon, perfectly integrated, never covers the territorial characteristics but accompanies them sopra a constant dialogue.

The evolution sopra the glass shows a wine sopra constant transformation, which gains complexity with oxygenation without losing freshness and definition. The current structure also suggests a fair potential for keeping sopra the short-medium term, so forget it sopra the cellar for a while It doesn’t seem like such a risky move to us.

Gastronomic pairings

Its structure and contained dosage make it ideal with raw fish appetizers perhaps even fried foods, delicate fish-based first courses from the Venetian tradition and fresh local cheeses.

Gastronomic score: four out of four, confirming a versatility that goes beyond the traditional role of aperitif wine.

Conclusion

The Otreval Rive by Guia Extra Brut represents a territorial interpretation that combines technical rigor and a deep understanding of the terroir: whether it is an aperitif with friends, a toast at a celebration a pairing with traditional cuisine dishes, this wine it is capable of making every moment alive.
