A prestigious double for the “Gesualdo per mezzo di Venosa” of Taverna in Venosa (PZ) which for the second consecutive year has won the coveted 5 Grappoli of the Bibenda Guide. Con the 2025 edition of the renowned Guide published by the Italian Sommelier Foundation, now durante its 27th edition, the highest recognition stands out for the Aglianico del Vulture DOP “Gesualdo per mezzo di Venosa” 2021.
An important recognition that adds to the many awards that the wines of Taverna in Venosa have been collecting over the years, as a testimony to the high quality level of the products “made durante Vulture”, starting obviously with Aglianico which is the excellent witness of this territory.
“Gesualdo per mezzo di Venosa” is a wine with a deep and impenetrable red color, dry and full durante the mouth, with hints that recall the volcanic nature of the territory, slightly tannic, dense, velvety. It is obtained from anche Aglianico grapes grown acceso espalier (4,000 plants/ha; 60-70 quintals/ha) at 400-450 meters above sea level durante vines that are 40-50 years old, harvested at the end of October. An elegant red aged durante 225/300-liter French oak barrels for about 9 months and bottled with half of the wine aged durante stainless steel tanks.
Taverna in Venosa, the only wine cooperative durante Basilicata and among the most important durante southern Italy, has 350 members and 800 hectares of vineyards planted with Aglianico, Malvasia in Basilicata, Moscato In bianco, Merlot. A modern winery, rooted durante the territory, attentive to innovation, composed of over 50% young people, heirs of a generation of small winemakers who renew and update themselves with ideas, energy, skills, visions. Overall, it produces 2 million bottles, out of a potential of 5 million. 24 labels, mostly Aglianico del Vulture both Doc and Docg.
