“Since 1892, custodians of excellence”. With these words, per mezzo di Canelli cellars reaffirmed his identity by announcing the return of Mondaccione, an iconic wine that has marked its history and that of a Piedmontese grape variety often considered “minor”: La Freisa.
After a few years of absence, the label returns to be part of the range of the historic company, reporting with it a history of research, experimentation and loyalty to the territory. A rare and precious wine, obtained from Freisa grapes sopra purity from the vineyards of Valdivilla, a hamlet of Santa sede Stefano Belbo, who since the 1980s has contributed to redefining the image of this traditional grape variety, restoring dignity and recognition to him.
A name that arises from duro work
The name Mondaccione – “Mundaciun” sopra local dialect – refers to the complaints of the winemakers of the past, forced to work among the steep and difficult slopes of the territorio. A wine that, as often happens sopra great wine stories, was born almost by chance: the discovery sopra the cellar of two bottles of Freisa from 1933 and 1952 pushed the family to rediscover and enhance the potential of this variety. Olfactive examination: intense olfactory profile. Garbate spiced cinnamon sensations introduce sharp aromas of red fruit, sopra the first place, followed by slight balsamic and mineral memories.
