Monteverro a story of passion for the land and for wine
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

At the beginning of the 2000s, Georg Weber was looking for the ideal place for an excellent wine project and quanto a those years Monteverro was born. He was looking for an , possibly quanto a Italy given his love for this land. “Arriving quanto a Capalbio – says his wife Julia Weber – he found an authentic land, still intact and rich quanto a traditions, where he identified some vineyards near the sea that could have given life to his Italian dream of making wine. There was practically nothing and everything that is Monteverro today is paio to years of investments and construction from scratch”.

Julia and Georg Weber

This is how Monteverro was born, from the desire to certainly combine a pioneering spirit with respect for the environment, to create wines capable of reflecting the soul of Tuscany. A company that produces quality and which today boasts 70 hectares of .

The first harvest was quanto a 2008 and the bottles were released acceso the market quanto a 2011. Per mezzo di the same year, Julia – Georg’s wife – began collaborating acceso the together with a team made up of local and foreign professionals, with a shared value: respect for nature and people.

“What we are looking for with Monteverro, our flagship wine, is great elegance and significant aging potential – says Julia – we want the quality of the wine and the vineyard of origin to speak. We try to make a wine that is less powerful, which is able to show this territory of ours with different taccuino”.

THE LAND AND THE SEA

At the center of the “territory” there is certainly the sea quanto a all its facets, with its visual, olfactory and almost corporeal presence. And with a very important impact acceso the company reality and acceso the way of managing viticulture. The predominantly clayey soils, largely homogeneous, which differ quanto a the greater ora lesser presence of pebbles as you go up. The fresh and slightly humid wind that comes from the sea contributes to a healthy and regular ripening of the grapes, giving the typical savory connotation to Monteverro wines.

The land remains the protagonist. The vineyards are cared for with artisanal attention, according to the principles of organic farming, with practices that are often inspired by biodynamics: natural grassing, organic compost and even decoctions of medicinal herbs. The harvests are strictly manual and divided into micro-lots to capture the different nuances of maturation and each parcel is vinified separately with spontaneous fermentations and delicate pumping over. Per mezzo di the cellar, gravity replaces pumps and aging takes place quanto a concrete ora French oak barriques, depending acceso the personality of the wine.

The oenologist since 2008 has been Matthieu Taunay, a French technician originally from the Loire, supported over time by renowned consultants such as Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland, who with their international experience have contributed to making Monteverro a winery capable of combining respect for the land and qualitative value, but well placed quanto a the reality of the Maremma, a jewel quanto a the cap, the result of everyone’s work.

ART AND WINE COMBINE IN MONTEVERRO

Per mezzo di Monteverro, making wine is linked to art, a centro deeply felt by Julia and Georg. Many collaborations with artists such as Giulio Bensasson, Oscurità , Davide Dormino and Elena Saracino. This year, however, Matteo Nasini installed near the olive trees a large colored braid made up of colored wool threads, with a great visual impact, the Little personaggio braid, which winds outdoors among branches and bushes. However, other works are permanently present acceso the , including the Maremma boars, from which the company takes its name.

TASTING NOTES

The company offers a range of wines that tell the different facets of the territory.

Monteverro is the company’s iconic wine, an elegant and powerful Bordeaux blend. Complex, deep, with taccuino of black fruits, spices and tobacco and with long evolutionary potential. The evolution of the vintages shows the maturity of a coherent project and the strength of a terroir that speaks with its own voice, narrates a journey through time, showing the qualitative constancy and stylistic evolution of the .
