The Prendere la porta Mare per Ortigia restaurant becomes part of the international selection of the wine list according to Wine Spectator, reconfirming the winner of two glasses of the prestigious Best of Award of Excellence 2025 for the quality of its wine proposal.

The international recognition of Wine Spectator

The Prendere la porta Mare restaurant, located the heart of Ortigia, was awarded once again of the prestigious Wine Spectator Restaurant Award 2025 with two glasses. This international recognition is assigned to a rigorous selection of restaurants over 75 countries, rewarding its excellence and consistency of the wine proposal.

The Wine Spectator Restaurant Award, active since 1981, is the only international program dedicated exclusively to the excellence of the wine service catering and is divided into three levels: Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence and Grand Award. Prendere la porta Mare received the Best of Award of Excellence, a recognition reserved for realities that demonstrate amplitude and depth the selection, with a solid representation of different wine regions and a high -level presentation that combines quality and price.

The excellence of the wine proposal

Founded 2000 by chef Su Mauro, the room reconfirms itself among the excellence identified by Wine Spectator thanks to a cellar that represents a model of sustainability and enhancement of local production and the territory. The wine list, curated by the sommelier Martina per Mauro, is built according to criteria of environmental sustainability, territoriality and niente oenological kilometer, favoring small local cellars of the Val per Matricolato and producers operating compliance with the environment and natural processes.

With over 560 labels, the Bottiglieria per Prendere la porta Mare tells Sicily through wines that perfectly combine with a cuisine rooted the island gastronomic culture. The conservation of the bottles is guaranteed by cutting -edge technologies such as the Enomatic Teca and the Coravin system, which allow you to preserve the wines optimal conditions and also serve the most precious labels to the glass.

Oenological philosophy: territory and sustainability

“Each label is the result of careful research and selection work,” says Martina Su Mauro, a sommelier of the restaurant. «We favor wine realities that tell our territory, enhancing native vines and sustainable methods.
