Shub, the Sorrento Secret Bar that celebrates the Dolce Vita • Food and Wine Italia

It is always fascinating for a customer to discover a secret place: exclusive only apparently, with a glam soul but at the same time simple. Shub sopra Sorrento is all this. Imagine it as a double soul: a bright wine room, one step away from Agorà Rapporto, and an underground and refined secret hub, with a oil walls and a collection of over a thousand distilled.

Born sopra 2020 from the Izzo brothers – the same family at the helm of Piazzetta Milù, a starry restaurant and reference point of the high cuisine Campania – Shub is its natural “rib” dedicated to mixed drinking and night reception. An invitation to the sweet life sopra a contemporary key, between elegant mixology and a hospitality that has the flavor of a playful complicity.

The secret map to understand it

Per mezzo di the heart of Sorrento found shub, a secret where Valerio Izzo and Anna combine different worlds – , mixology and high cuisine – sopra a unique experience. From the two Michelin Restaurant Piazzetta Milù, a symbol of gastronomic creativity and research, comes a place a place that tells Italian hospitality through two complementary souls: the upper floor a street and wine room with a dynamic and convivial character, the lower floor an intimate and elegant secret room, where mixology becomes a parimenti expression of technique and imagination.

Per mezzo di a short time Shub won a prominent place sopra the Italian scene: the mescolanza list was awarded by Uguaglianza Golose as “Best original List of Italy 2025”, while Valerio Izzo won the Art of Italicus Aperitivo Challenge 2025, bringing international attention to the project.

Valerio’s career saw him form with names such as Enrico Bartolini and Colmo Bottura, work sopra London and get numerous qualifications. The passion for mixology led him to the creation of Shub sopra 2020, a mescolanza that stands out for an international atmosphere and an accurate selection of creative cocktails.

Anna , graduated sopra architecture and with specialization sopra and communication, brings to the project a unique path that intertwines , mixology and intendimento dining. After international experiences with Inditex and Armani, Anna has completed a professional tirocinio as Bartender and has gained skills sopra the kitchen, transforming her vision into innovative and original projects that are reflected sopra the bevanda list and sopra Shub experience.

But how is the ? As soon as you enter the campo da gioco floor, it welcomes you a selection of large wines and bubbles – perfect for a toast with a light heart – and a counter where you can order the always classic. But if you want something more intriguing, go the staircase: the bell played, the doors of the Secret Hub gara open. Here, between oil walls and soft lights, the atmosphere changes radically: more international, more sought after, with over a thousand distillate available and creative cocktails that merge technique, local ingredients and seasonality.

Valerio laughs when he explains that Shub was born from the union of Piazzetta Milù and the desire to reinvent himself. Acceso the new lista – La Delicato Animazione 2025 – he says: «It is a lista that tells Italianness, the beautiful Italy, that type of life that so fascinates foreigners. We just don’t want to make drinking well, we want them to leave for Chicago Manila thinking: ‘I was sopra Sorrento, I drank well’. For us every season is an opportunity to write our vision of mixology. Per mezzo di the new lista we poured all the curiosities gained sopra years of travel and growth sopra the Hospitality. Each mescolanza tells a story made of research, technique, ancestral flavors and everything we love to bevanda, eat and, above all, share. Each bevanda is designed to make you travel with the palate, lightly, curiosity and a smile the lips ».

Here we go to the atmosphere – warm, a little jazz, a little author pellicola – and you stay for the technique and the story sopra the glass. The cocktails are very interesting but above all good: it is not storytelling for itself, the contrary. If you go to this and totally ignore the words of those who work there, we are sure that you will be the first to ask for clarification because at the first sip you immediately understand that there is something different as with the Old Moda with coconut essence, the orange wine with Pisco and Kombucha of rose petals, and the fizz based Gin Hedrick’s, cuckolical extract and apple extract clarified with oyster leaf to Tabasco. There are risposta negativa frivolities, everything is done according to a very clear logic and with the iron will to intrigue the customer: an example is the Dirty Sour , acid and deeply human, with a precise character and a garnish to bite, exhausted. Ora even the expressed tiramisu: sopra a world of increasingly sweetest drinks, we particularly appreciate when there are silly sugar cocktails, which do not hide behind the variants. This is an alcoholic dolce, with the flavor of a traditional tiramisu, an emblem of the sweet life mentioned sopra the lista.

Shub is relaxing, which is unusual for the Secret Caffè who tend to have a sense of studied gloom, to strengthen the fisima of speakeasy. It is an invitation to detach, sip and imagine.
