On the slopes of Etna there is a business that produces pure, regional white wines.

On the eastern side, in Milo, and in the northern towns of Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo, the business works scrupulously to boost the character of Carricante and Nerello Mascalese.

The business is SRC, established in 2012 with just 5,000 square meters of residential or commercial property, an acronym for the 3 creators: Sandra, Rori and Cinzia.

Coming from the approach of “Triple A” white wines, they reveal the best level of acidity and are naturally stabilized.

In the “Triple A” manifesto or “Farmers, Artisans, Artists”, treatments are decreased to a minimum and the principles of regard for the area is highlighted at the greatest levels.

In the cellar the white wine is carefully accompanied by the attention of Rori who, having an excellent understanding of the items at the start of the job thanks to his enthusiasm, produced the white wines following his own impulse.

Spontaneous fermentations and very little intervention on the white wines create sensorial profiles that are often nontransparent and not completely clear.

Etna Bianco, Etna Rosato and Etna Rosso are lavish white wines, which can include the “reader”, who approaches the glass which informs the various subtleties of the area.

The Contrade, on the other hand, reveal a various depth in which the natural memory absolutely fades, leaving space for a clear, unquestionably more technical soul.

The depth of Contrada Sottana is completely apparent in the Rivaggi label; plants of around 80 years of age with North-West direct exposure, offer a definitive and at the exact same time interesting imprint, much like the method of taking a look at the Sun.

Reporters Titti Casiello and Federico Latteri from Cronache di Gusto

Vinified in 15 HL truncated cone barrels with spontaneous fermentation lasting roughly 3 weeks. It is aged for 12 months in 500 L tonneaus.

Following the relative tasting of Contrada Crasà with the fictional name “Alberello” and Contrada Barbabecchi.

2 extremely various white wines explained throughout the conference with terms that fits completely: the very first, a volcanic white wine, the “Vulcano white wine”, the 2nd a mountain white wine.

In truth, elevation plays a crucial function in the expressiveness of the 2 white wines, Alberello, produced by Contrada Crasà, is distinctly hot, reveals a crucial feeling of heat and remembers blood and graphite characteristics.

Vinified in 15 HL cone-shaped oak barrels, it is fermented by native yeasts for roughly 4 weeks. It fine-tunes for 12 months in concrete before being bottled.

Barbabecchi is worthy and hoity-toity, distinctly more tense, fresh and lively, sometimes sharp.

Vinified in little 5 HL barrels, it is fermented by native yeasts and macerated with its skins for roughly 3-4 weeks based upon the qualities of the vintage. Refines for 12 months in 400 L ceramic containers.

The contrast was performed on 2 various vintages and for that reason somewhat unequal, however Barbabecchi’s mindset and tendency for verticality definitely leaves a more incisive memory.

It was an enjoyment to learn more about the residential or commercial property, in its totality, and to dig much deeper into the job which in simply over ten years has actually ended up being at the top of the quality of the white wines produced in the denomination.

Below are the talk about all the white wines tasted:
