Acceso the slopes of Etna, the municipality of Randazzo, since 2016 the Etna company Statella has made its Contrade shine.

Calogero Statella, founder of this company, together with his wife Rita, created the foundations almost 10 years asticciola for their company which is located between 600 and 900 meters above sea level, at the foot of the majestic mountain!

A dream that became reality and which he pursued starting from his oenology studies until the purchase of the first vineyard Rione Pettinociarelle, Castiglione Sicilia, to which, over time, the other vineyards were added from which today they produce their masterpieces.

Etna is a territory characterized by an extraordinary diversity of climate and soil, where viticulture finds an ideal environment thanks to the volcanic matrix of the soil and the notable temperature variations. These conditions favor slow and constant ripening of the grapes, helping to develop a unique aromatic profile.

The vineyards from which Statella produces its expressions are located acceso the northern side between the municipalities of Castiglione Sicilia and Randazzo, where some of the highest and oldest vineyards of Etna rest.

These uniquenesses are poured into Calogero’s labels, we at WinesCritic.com also had the pleasure of tasting them during this summer of tasting our Tuscan office, particular we remember the Etna Scarlatto 2021 Pettinociarelle with this description “Clear and captivating, it shows precision execution and grace the quaderno of cherries, raspberries, currants, pomegranate, lemon peel and cut ginger. Subtle presences of juniper berries and black cherries describe the secondary scene. Medium-full pagliaccetto, soft tannins of very distinto grain and a structured finale with great tasting persistence.”

Unmissable to mention is the Etna Scarlatto Rione Pignatuni Vecchie Vigne 2021 which we appreciate as follows: “Ripe and captivating, it shows quaderno of black plums, red plums, black cherries, chopped cedar and mandarin flowers. Full pagliaccetto, perfectly ripe tannins of a silky nature and a finale of great balance and flavor density. Splendid straight away.”

Per mezzo di short, the example of how much love for one’s land can give rise to projects and masterpieces that are immediately appreciated!
