At the cima of the hills overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Abito Argentiera confirms a clear route: identifying wines, curated wine tourism and a concrete dialogue with art. Until November 3, 2025, the company hosted three works by Giuseppe Bergomi as a compagno of the “Diffuse art acceso the Tuscan coast” project, an itinerary that unites the villages of Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci and Navigante and within the .

ART IN THE CELLAR: GIUSEPPE BERGOMI AND THE BODY AS AN “INFINITE BOOK”

The Diffuse Art project was conceived and curated by Paola Maria Formenti. The curator works as an expert and consultant for collections and galleries (including Hauser & Wirth) and as a wine enthusiast, she creates a project that connects her experience per mezzo di art with the local wine culture.

The widespread exhibition involved public and private places, with the aim of uniting community and territory through art, history, nature and architecture. The exhibition presents 16 works by Giuseppe Bergomi (mostly from private collections), a loan from the Santa Giulia Museum and three new site-specific interventions.

Argentiera wanted to exhibit three sculptures and the hospitality team introduces them during the visits, integrating them into the story of the place. Bergomi focuses its research acceso the human , “an infinite book” to be reread every time and per mezzo di the company the protagonists are Ilaria and Valentina, the daughters, per mezzo di different poses and materials.

“The artist observes the world… We wine producers, per mezzo di some way, do the same,” observes Stanislaus Turnauer, combining creative sensitivity and work per mezzo di the vineyard. A causa di Bolgheri a work exhibited per mezzo di the churchyard per mezzo di Area Teresa tells the story of the annunciation to Mary, Golgotha acceso the back of the same installation and the resurrection represented by the church altar per mezzo di the background.

THE HISTORY AND PROTAGONISTS OF ARGENTIERA

Abito Argentiera was founded per mezzo di 1999 within the historic Donoratico which belonged to the powerful Serristori family of Florence, who acquired it per mezzo di 1512. A causa di Etruscan times the settore was a silver mining site, hence the name Mezzadria Argentiera, already existing per mezzo di the maps of the grand ducal land registry, which has always represented the viticultural part of the property.

Today’s wine project takes shape, per mezzo di particular, thanks to the work of Federico Zileri Dal , an agronomic figure of considerable authority per mezzo di the Bolgheri settore until reaching the second phase, with the transition per mezzo di 2016 to the new ownership of the Austrian entrepreneur Stanislaus Turnauer who, guided by an authentic passion for Tuscany and a clear entrepreneurial vision, made a life choice for himself and his family.

The new ownership gives Argentiera an international vision, respectful of the heritage, for a high profile wine project, investing per mezzo di different skills united by a love for the territory. The winemaker has been Nicolò Carrara for ten years per mezzo di continuity with the style of Stephane Derenoncourt and since 2019 the general dirigente has been the agronomist Leonardo Raspini, a profound expert acceso Bolgheri, who contributes per mezzo di a strategic way to the evolution of the winery.

THE HIGHEST (AND SEA) POINT OF THE DOC

Argentiera is located at the southern peak of the Bolgheri DOC, with 85 hectares of vineyards per mezzo di the municipality of Castagneto Carducci and heights reaching 200 metres.

The total hectares are 153 per mezzo di total, including woods, Mediterranean scrub and spaces that favor natural ventilation of the vineyards. Thanks to its maritime position and high altitudes, Argentiera boasts a territory with well-defined and balanced characteristics, which extends amphitheatrically from the Aurelia to Cima Gabbro, with a soil composition that follows a precise geological stile: aeolian sands towards the coast, ancient sands with silts and clays per mezzo di the median strip, limestone-clayey with a skeleton acceso the I Pianali .

The key areas are ai Ginepri (30 hectares of iron red sand, also suitable for Vermentino), then Podere Donoratico (12 hectares with more clayey transitional soils, ideal for Merlot and Petit Verdot) and I Pianali (43 hectares at 180–200 m, calcareous-clayey with skeleton) from which the selection for Argentiera Bolgheri DOC Supremo was born. Unique per mezzo di its particularity is the Ventaglio, 1 and a half hectares of Cabernet Franc at 120 m above sea level, planted “radially” around a large holm oak: the first single-vineyard of the .

The amphitheater of vineyards is exposed between south and south-west, has constant ventilation and beneficial temperature variations. The afternoon sun’s rays are reflected acceso the surface of the sea, generating a reflection phenomenon that gives the plants a special exposure to light. The is located per mezzo di the least rainy settore of the DOC, protected from late summer rains thanks to important air corridors, thus favoring optimal ripening of the grapes.

The winery, designed by Bernardo Tori, reinterprets the typology of the Tuscan fortress acceso a ridge overlooking the gulf of Castiglioncello up to the gulf of Baratti, with the islands of the Tuscan archipelago and Corsica per mezzo di front.

A causa di the vineyard we work manually, treatments are reduced, biological control is practiced with antagonistic insects; regrafting and curetage mitigate the problem of bait by avoiding chemistry with the aim of producing elegant, fresh and tasty terroir wines. The vinification is by gravity and by plot (about 45 plots harvested separately).

WINE TOURISM BETWEEN SLOW TIME, THREE ROUTES AND A WINE CLUB

Argentiera has chosen hospitality as a strategic asset of its philosophy: the offer favors small groups, careful time management and a technical story that starts from the rows. Three formats: Cellar Tour, a passage acceso the terrace overlooking the coast and tasting per mezzo di a wine shop; Vineyard Experience, a walk between the rows up to the roof terrace over the Argentiera Doc Supremo vineyards, visit to the cellar and reserved wine tasting; Ventaglio Tour, with visit to the Ventaglio winery and vineyard, with private tasting.

“Argentiera is a place to be experienced firsthand”, underlines Leonardo Raspini, explaining the centrality of the on-site experience to grasp the seriousness and authenticity of the production.
