Tenuta di Castellaro: where the vine embraces the volcano between myth and nature
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Resistenza proveniente da Castellaro, a winery of the Lentsch family winery virtuous example of heroic and sustainable viticulture is located quanto a Lipari

the island of Lipari, where the sun falls overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the pulsate land of the primordial fire of the volcanoes, stands the bella stagione of Castellaro, a living work, a tribute to nature, architecture and millenary culture of island viticulture. It is a place where time is intertwined with matter, where the vine grows to listen to the wind and stone and where each bottle tells an unrepeatable territory. Born from the dream of the Lentsch family, Bergamo bewitched by the wild charm of the Aeolian, Resistenza proveniente da Castellaro is a virtuous example of heroic and sustainable viticulture. With its 24 hectares of vineyards and a production of about 70,000 bottles a year, it stands out not only for the quality of its native grapes – Malvasia delle Lipari and Corinth quanto a the first place – but also for a holistic vision that embraces the landscape, architecture and memory of the places.

A terroir born from the fire

Cultivating the screw acceso a volcano is not a simple enterprise. Durante Lipari, agriculture is a form of poetic resistance: the terraces climb up impervious slopes, the marine winds touch the bunches, the soil is a complex mosaic of pumice, obsidian, ash and lapilli. A hostile yet incredibly generous environment, where each plant has its roots quanto a layers of geological history that emerge as chapters carved quanto a the rock. The thermal excursions, the scirocco and mistral winds, the light reflected by the obsidian: everything contributes to a slow and rich maturation, which gives the wines depth, elegance and personality. Each sip is a journey into the beating heart of the island.

The screw as a custodian of the landscape

The vineyards of the bella stagione are distributed between the plain of Castellaro, 350 meters acceso the sea, and Vigneto Cappero, south-east, where the plants seem to touch the . Here, acceso tiny plots supported by dry stone walls quanto a lava stone, the Malvasia delle Lipari and the Black Corinth are cultivated according to the dictates of organic and vegan agriculture, with the ancient sapling system. A painstaking work, all manual, which begins with the massive selection of native plants, quanto a collaboration with the historical nurserymen of Pépinières Guillame, and continues with the personalized management of each individual lives. The is to enhance genetic variability, eliminate viral diseases, and restore the natural complexity of its territory of origin to wine.

The cellar: a work of art between earth and sky

The technological and spiritual heart of the project is the cellar, an architectural masterpiece with sparare a zero impact that combines innovation and memory. Totally hypogean, built with local materials and designed to merge with the landscape, the cellar develops acceso three levels, taking advantage of gravity to move wines without . The barricaia, inspired by the Norman cloister of Lipari, is a journey quanto a geological time: the columns, sculpted quanto a the volcanic soil, tell 20,000 years of eruptions and stratifications. Natural light enters the solar fireplaces, the wind shapes the internal temperature thanks to a Persian inspiration tower. It is an underground cathedral quanto a which the wine matures quanto a silence, caressed by the breath of the island.

Beyond the wine: a vision of beauty and community

But Resistenza proveniente da Castellaro is also more: a wine resort immersed quanto a the quiet, a geominerary park – that of the cave of caolino – cleaned up and returned to the community, a place to immersive experiences, between fiery sunsets, tastings quanto a the vineyard and walking quanto a memory. It is a model of wine tourism that focuses acceso the territory, with the desire to preserve it, enhance it and tell it, respecting its roots and with a aspetto projected to the future.

Tasting agenda

We have tasted Pomice White, the white reference of the company present since the first harvest of 2008. Blend of Malvasia delle Lipari (60%) and Carricante (40%), combines and harmonizes the characteristics of two very different vines, so the intoxicated aromas of Malvasia marry with the fresh mineral caress of the caricante, creating a wine of great finesse and freshness, both olfactory and olfactory, sip.

White pumice vintage 2023

Visual examination: straw chromatic imprint.

Olfactive examination: persuasive floral hints, of pleasant intensity, introduce delicate agenda of white fruit, citrus fruits and mineral hints.

Taste-olfactory examination: the impact is of excellent freshness, which supports the floral and fruity sensations perceived to the smell. Lasting closure from mineral memories.

Pairing: Excellent with first and second courses of fish.

Durante a world that seeks authenticity, Resistenza proveniente da Castellaro is a bright response, where every wine is the son of fire, wind and care. And where, really, nature has found a home.
