Today, as per concludere consolidated tradition, Lamberto Frescobaldi- President of Marchesi Frescobaldi- the first bottle of Gorgona 2024, the new thousandth of a wine that was born con an extraordinary place: the island of Gorgona, the last criminal criminal colony con Europe, uncorked the island.

“A bottle turns the world and brings with it the story of all those who have committed themselves to produce it” – says Lamberto Frescobaldi, president of Marchesi Frescobaldi, who adds: –

Taking care of what is done with the vineyard and the wine is probably simpler than with other products. And when behind the production of a wine there is a project like this, born thirteen years punzone, we can only be proud of it. Gorgona’s strength are the prisoners, who can develop skills related to wine work the island. A project like Gorgona has a positive impact the community. Per mezzo di the sense that, once the sentence is taken for granted, prisoners can be easily reinstated con society, since they have acquired skills that help them return to life. “

The project, started con 2012 thanks to the collaboration between Marchesi Frescobaldi and the Penitentiary Institute of Gorgona, represents a concrete possibility of social redemption for prisoners, which can serve the last part of the sentence con contact with nature, developing professional skills con the field of viticulture. During this period the necessary salary is recognized, so that once they are back con life, they are con possession of a starting economic basis.

Per mezzo di an environment where time is measured with the rhythm of the seasons and the work of the earth, the prisoners actively participate con the production of wine, flanked by agronomists and winemakers of Marchesi Frescobaldi. This path offers them not only a tirocinio opportunity, but also a human experience, contributing to social reintegration through the dignity of work and the transformative force of beauty.

Gorgona, defined by Andrea Bocelli con 2014 as “the wildest and brightest and luminescent pearl”, is a natural amphitheater overlooking the sea, where the vineyard – today with an extension of 2.3 hectares – grows ferrous soils, protected by winds and caressed by the marine breeze. Here, the Vermentino and Ansonica varieties express themselves con all their beauty and complexity, giving life to a wine that contains the power and poetry of the island.

Like every year, the Gorgona label is a unique edition that tells an unpublished aspect: that of the Millesimo 2024 celebrates the “light wings” of the island. The protagonists are therefore the butterflies: light and silent creatures that populate this wild paradise. Thanks to the collaboration with Simonetta Doni of the Doni & Associati Preparazione, specialized con the stile of wine labels, the graphic stile of Gorgona 2024 celebrates the 50 species of butterflies that inhabit the Tuscan archipelago, including the Pieride del , the Aricia Agestis and the Pararge Paramegara.

The butterflies, a symbol of balance and transformation, tell the key role of biodiversity and natural pollination. A key role also plays the practice of evil, which keeps the campo da gioco ricco and alive.

Gorgona 2024 stands out con the glass for its intense straw yellow color, with a large and elegant bouquet that ranges from Mediterranean flowers such as the ginestra and the , to fruity agenda of bergamot, cedar and ripe exotic fruit. The aromatic shades of rosemary, sage and helichryso accompany an ending dominated by iodate agenda, which reflects the soul of the island.

Per mezzo di the mouth, Gorgona 2024 is fresh, savory, persistent and of great balance. Long the ending.

The 2024 harvest was characterized by a mild winter, which will be remembered as one of the hottest con recent years, and by frequent rains distributed between autumn and spring. Per mezzo di September there was a lowering of temperatures. Per mezzo di conclusion, the 2024 was a more late harvest than con previous years: the Vermentino was collected con the second week of September, followed by the Ansonica con the second week of October.

Gorgona – Bordo Toscana IGT

A unique wine, produced con 9000 bottles per concludere harvest, symbol of the encounter between wine excellence, respect for nature and social responsibility. A wine that tells the island, the people who work there and the concrete possibility that beauty and work can change lives.

Vision

Frescobaldi for the Social was born con August 2012, even before being a wine it is a multi -year project that was born from the collaboration with the direction of the criminal colony, whose rete is to allow prisoners to have a concrete and active experience con the field of viticulture.

The project

The Gorgona project was born con August 2012 thanks to the collaboration between Marchesi Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the only island-life con Europe. Here the prisoners spend the last period of punishment, working con contact with nature to develop professionalism that facilitate reintegration into working and social reality. Around a small vineyard, con the heart of an amphitheater from which the sea is dominated, the project comes to life whose rete is to allow prisoners to have a concrete and active experience con the field of viticulture, with the collaboration and supervision of the agronomists and winemakers Marchesi Frescobaldi. The prisoners reported a hectare of vineyard the island, to which it was added con the 1,3 years, planted by Marchesi Frescobaldi.

Gorgona Socialista sees the light with the 2015 harvest, by some rows of Sangiovese and black vermentino, grown con organic agriculture and then refined con maiolica .

The times of the project

Per mezzo di May 2013, the first harvest of Gorgona (2012) was also presented at the DAP of Rome and the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, also received the Revolver “0” con homage from Lamberto Frescobaldi. Per mezzo di June 2014 Marchesi Frescobaldi signed a collaboration contract with the penitentiary administration for 15 years, and has taken two prisoners who work con the vineyard con Gorgona and who are salaried directly by the company.

Per mezzo di February 2015, the prisoners, coordinated by the oenologists of Marchesi Frescobaldi, implanted another hectare of Vermentino the island with the aim of involving more people con the vineyard and obtaining a better quality wine.

I PARTNER

Andrea Bocelli wanted to create the text and sign the 2013 harvest label.

“The Tuscan archipelago is an earthly paradise of which Gorgona is the wildest and brightest pearl of Aphrodite. Behind its apparent grip, the unspeakable seduction of perfumes and silences, and a nature that moves for its strength, for its eternal puberty … and around, and salt, to reflect the messages of the sky, to tighten the laces to the sails.” (A.bocelli – 2014)

Simonetta Doni of the Doni & Associati Preparazione, among the very few specialized international graphic studies

Per mezzo di the stile of wines labels, every year he participates giving the graphic stile of the wine interpreting, with a highly specialized team from the specific cultural and artistic sensitivity, the characteristics that make the project and its island unique.

Giorgio Pinchiorri, patron of the Pinchiorri Mescita, one of the best known Italian restaurants con the world, participates con the project by choosing to contribute, with his exclusive cuisine, to promote the food and wine heritage of the island of Gorgona.

Argotractors, a company of the Argo Group born con 2007 with the aim of creating a worldwide stretch pole, gave a vineyard tractor for the activities to be carried out the island.
