The world of wine is per turmoil for an exciting announcement that celebrates the Campania wine excellence: an exceptional Taurasi 2021 from the province of Irpinia has conquered the prestigious “best per show” recognition. This milestone not only underlines the superior quality of this wine, but also reaffirms the position of Campania as a region producing Rossi durante Great Albutura, challenging the common perception that sees it mainly as the land of great whites.

A historical recognition for Campania

The obtaining of the first “best per show” medal by a Taurasi, per particular the woman, marks a significant moment for the entire Campania region. Traditionally, Irpinia is famous for its white wines such as the Fiano d’Avellino and the Greek of Tufo. However, the Taurasi, produced by the autochthonous Aglianico grape, represents a fundamental ring per the chain of Italian “serious reds”, which extends from the famous northern regions such as Barolo and Barbaresco, crosses the Tuscan classics and reaches the Etna per Sicily, without forgetting the Sagrantino durante Montefalco Umbrian. This award repositions Taurasi and Irpinia itself per the sommario of the great red wines of Italy.

Taurasi 2021: a sensory profile of excellence

The Taurasi 2021, winner of the “Best per show”, presents itself with characteristics that fully justify its recognition. His chromatic guise is a red-black, profound and inviting dense. Acceso the nose, agenda of dark and dark black fruits emerge, enriched with hints of worked and undergrowth land, evoking the authenticity of the territory.

Acceso the palate, the wine proves to be deep and with a dense weaving, with fruits almost tightened at this youth phase. The tannins are generous and determined, promising a remarkable longevity and a “suburbio” of savory flavors that will fully reveal themselves with the aging. It is a wine that identifies itself as the perfect companion for the winter months and an excellent gastronomic combination, which does not need to be consumed quickly, the contrary, invites patience.

This Taurasi embodies the sunto of modern Taurasi, exhibiting uncontaminated agenda of dark cherry, vanilla and coffee. Its structure is smooth and compact, with a finely calibrated texture and luxurious and velvety tannins, expertly balanced by a refreshing acidity. All these characteristics indicate a significant aging potential.

Perspectives and reflections Taurasi and Aglianico

The success of this Taurasi 2021 is not an isolated case, but the result of careful work and a growing awareness of the potential of Aglianico grapes. This grape variety, known for its acidity and its marked tannins, is capable of producing wines of great structure and complexity, ideal for aging. The “best per show” recognition opens new doors for the promotion of Taurasi internationally, attracting the attention of critics and wine enthusiasts a territory which, despite being already appreciated for other excellence, deserved to see its value recognized also per the field of great reds.

This success invites us to reflect the importance of enhancing native vines and territorial specificities. Each bottle of Taurasi contains a story, that of a territory, of a tradition and innovation that meet to create something unique. It is an invitation to further explore the wine riches of Italy, beyond the best known names, to discover hidden gems like this extraordinary Taurasi.
