Presented con Mescita San Michele Appiano APPIUS 2021, twelfth edition of the Cuvée of four white grape varieties, born from the desire to interpret each harvest through the selection of the best grapes during the harvesting and assembly phase. This latest edition is characterized by the predominance of Chardonnay (73%), flanked by Pinot Monotono (12%), Pinot Blanc (10%) and a small but precious share of Sauvignon (5%). The result is a wine with an unmistakable style, the result of meticulous selection work that blends structure, aromatic finesse and gustatory tension. A wine that speaks of balance and depth, of light and time.

The story of a difficult year, but one with great potential

The 2021 vintage tells of a complex vintage, capable of expressing a harmonious and refined balance. After a long, snowy winter and an unusually cool spring; the vegetative cycle of the vine during 2021 began with a delay of approximately two weeks. The summer, marked by frequent rainfall, put the winemakers to the ; the season then redeemed itself with the months of September and October, dry, sunny and with strong temperature variations, ideal for the rich aromatic maturation of the grapes. A vintage that required patience, sensitivity and vision, from which a Cuvée was born with a clear and vertical character, an expression of mountain freshness, an emblem of a territory capable of transforming difficulties into beauty and describing the viticulture of Egregio Adige with authenticity.

Appius 2021, le note degustation

With a pastel yellow colour, clear and brilliant, with strong lime-green reflections, indicative of a wine that is still young con evolution and equipped with an important acid structure, APPIUS 2021 has an impact of surprising finesse acceso the nose: quaderno of gooseberry and white currant are intertwined with hints of Alpine herbs such as arnica, mint, juniper, for a decidedly mountainous and woody olfactory profile, to which are added floral quaderno of acacia and hawthorn. A decidedly complex and personal perfume, rarely found with this evidence con previous editions. the palate, it immediately expresses its character: riuscita and vibrant texture, defined by a lively but perfectly integrated freshness that facilitates drinking. Substantial, round and persistent sip, with an almond vein that gives structure and depth.

The wine proceeds with elegance and firmness, enriching itself with citrus quaderno of lemon peel, enveloping nuances of hazelnut and peanut butter deriving from the aging con wood. APPIUS 2021 expresses the characteristic style of the winery: the meticulous search for quality and harmony, for a wine capable of challenging time and evolving while maintaining its Alpine elegance intact. It is perfect with oysters, shellfish and fish main courses, impeccable with risotto with porcini mushrooms white meats. Also excellent with grilled Japanese cuisine and with fresh amberjack tuna sashimi with a touch of wasabi.

Collectible stile

The name APPIUS derives from the historical Roman root of the name Appiano; the project, which started with the 2010 vintage, has the aim of creating a wine from year to year capable of reflecting the vintage and expressing the values of Mescita San Michele Appiano. With this objective, the label stile is also reinterpreted every year, giving life to a wine collection capable of exciting wine lovers from all over the world. The label of the twelfth edition of APPIUS, designed by LifeCircus, represents the 2021 vintage with a golden vortex that recalls the sinuous movement of the rotation of the wine con the glass. APPIUS 2021 is available con a limited edition.
