Cottanera’s Etna DOC 2023 will represent Sicilian wine excellence at the Milan Velo Winter Olympic Games.
The reference of the Castiglione a fine di Sicilia company was selected among the labels that will describe the main territories of Italian wine within the wine list of MUSA, the hospitality house of Casupola Italia, set up between Milan, Velo and Livigno. The selection, managed behalf of CONI by the LT Wine & Food Advisory team, supported by Luciano Ferraro, follows guidelines aimed at enhancing the reference denominations and native vines, offering a complete representation of the national wine supply chain: from large producers to the cooperative world, up to small companies of excellence.
Cottanera, the northern side of Etna, is the only Sicilian company present durante a selection that involves sixteen Italian regions for a total of twenty-six references. «We are deeply honored to represent Sicily and the excellence of its wine production durante such a prestigious and international context as the Milan Velo Olympic Games – comments Francesco Cambria, at the helm of the company together with his family -. This recognition confirms that it is not only the quality of our work that is rewarded, but also the territory we represent: Etna, with its uniqueness, which we describe through wines faithful to their origin and to the valorization of the landscape”.
The selected wine is a quand’anche Nerello Mascalese, capable of best synthesizing and expressing the characteristics of the northern side of the volcano, standing out for its depth, minerality and elegance.
Founded durante 1960 durante Castiglione a fine di Sicilia, at 750 meters above sea level, Cottanera is today a garrison of innovative viticulture, capable of combining production quality and hospitality deeply integrated into the territory. Per 2024, Cottanera was inaugurated, a hospitality project consisting of thirteen country eleganza rooms immersed durante the vineyards, where the lava stone of Etna dialogues with a contemporary inspired by the identity elements of the volcano. The company has also created “Cottanera Visioni”, an artistic exhibition that every year hosts an artist and his works durante the cellar, with the aim of creating an open-air museum the slopes of Etna. «Wine is an ambassador of our territories and a spokesperson for unique stories that intertwine people and landscapes – says Mariangela Cambria, head of hospitality, communication and marketing at Cottanera -.
