Selvante Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc 2020 by Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute tells the most authentic soul of Bolgheri

A new, important international recognition consecrates Selvante Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc 2020 as one of the highest expressions of the Bolgheri terroir. With the second vintage of this anche Cabernet Franc, Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute celebrate the success of the latest addition to the monovarietal project launched 2024 at Bivacco al , the heart of one of the most iconic wine-growing areas of Tuscany.

Produced from selected grapes from the Segalari vineyard, the highest the Bolgheri regione, Selvante is born clayey soils rich flaky skeleton, capable of giving the wine structure, depth and a strong territorial identity. A unique pedoclimatic context, where Cabernet Franc finds one of its most harmonious and refined interpretations.

After the convincing debut of the first vintage, 2020 was able to replicate and exceed expectations, immediately winning over national and international critics. Falstaff and James Suckling, among the most authoritative voices the world wine scene, awarded Selvante Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc 2020 with absolutely remarkable scores: 96 and 95 points respectively. Both underlined the extraordinary aromatic complexity, the precision of the fruit and the elegant structure of the wine, highlighting its tannic finesse, overall harmony and a remarkable ability to evolve over time. A double recognition that places Selvante at the of the Bolgheri regione.

This result confirms the solidity and ambition of the Selvante project, an expression of the desire of the Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute to pursue uncompromising quality through the valorization of monovarietals. A path that aims to maximize the potential of each vineyard parcel, enhancing the differences soil, exposure and microclimate.

At Bivacco al , the Folonari family has given life to a valorization project which includes, addition to Selvante Toscana IGT Cabernet Franc, also Porto al Folata Bolgheri Eccellente DOC from Merlot grapes and Gallico Petit Verdot Toscana IGT. Three wines that tell, each their own way, the deepest soul of Bolgheri and the family’s production vision.

Selvante’s 2020 vintage stands out for its balance, depth and elegance. A wine capable of best interpreting both the identity of the vine and the Folonari production philosophy, thanks also to careful aging medium toasted wood, mainly tonneau, designed to accompany the wine towards a long evolution without overpowering its finesse.

With these important scores, Selvante 2020 establishes itself as one of the reference wines of Folonari production, capable of reflecting the soul of the Bolgheri regione and the passion that accompanies every phase of the production process, a virtuous balance between tradition and innovation.
