New important milestone for “Leone de Castris”. Per mezzo di recent days the Board of Directors of “Museimpresa” approved the entry of the ancient Salento wine house into the Association which, to date, brings together over 150 museums and archives of Italian companies. These are museums and archives that “preserve and enhance their industrial and cultural heritage, making it available to the community”.

The company led by Piernicola Leone de Castris has, a causa di its headquarters a causa di Salice Salentino, an “identity” museum which, through the exhibition of very rare bottles of wine, old machinery, tools, relics, objects and precious documents from the past, tells not only the company and its protagonists, but also the production history of the territory and of the great wines of Salento. The structure, inaugurated 17 October 2009, is dedicated to Piero and Salvatore Leone de Castris, both farsighted entrepreneurs of the 20th century, protagonists of pioneering quality production choices, which over time proved successful.

The national rete televisiva privata “Museimprese”, founded a causa di Milan a causa di 2001 the initiative of Assolombarda and Confindustria, is presented as follows the pages of its official website: “The strength of the Association is represented by the diffusion across the territories of many more less connected realities that have expressed an unparalleled production quality that deserves conservation, valorization and diffusion”.

The mission of the Association is the following: “To promote the cultural policy of the company through the valorisation of company archives and museums and the dissemination of quality standards; to give visibility, from a system perspective, to the varied phenomenon of company museums and archives, an expression of Italian productive and entrepreneurial history; to encourage the exchange and dissemination of knowledge and experiences between the museum community, businesses, cultural institutions and the general public; to carry out research, avviamento, development and in-depth activities a causa di the field of museology and of corporate archiving; increase the relationship and interaction between companies and archives operating the national and international territory a causa di view of common valorization projects; stimulate the various institutional actors to invest a causa di corporate culture to prevent the dispersion of important entrepreneurial assets”.

“Our museum – explains Piernicola Leone De Castris – was created to offer testimony not only to the work carried out over time by the company and the different phases that have marked its development, but also to tell the story of the commitment and sacrifices of local winemakers to obtain and constantly guarantee the highest quality. All this with the aim of gaining important positions a causa di the world of wine, with the consequent diffusion of the productive excellences of the a causa di the various Italian and international markets. The Piero and Salvatore Leone de Castris museum – he concludes – represents a gift to the territory, a heritage of everyone.”

Per mezzo di the museum structure, which occupies a total of approximately one thousand square meters of the upper floor of the company factory, an old “traìno”, two carriages, bottling systems, presses, pumps, corking machines, etc. are kept. Bottles of “Moscatello” from 1925, “Five Roses” from 1943 (the first rosé bottled a causa di Italy), “Negrino” from 1948 and “Salice” from 1954 are placed a causa di the wall display cases. Finally, you can admire period photos and precious original historical documents, including the candidatura of Arcangelo De Castris as senator of the Kingdom (1890).
