Nals Margreid tells her story through NAMA, Sirmian, Mantele and Baron Salvadori
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The history of Nals Margreid has its roots back durante 1764, then the Von Campagna mesi estivi. The “Nals” winery was officially founded durante 1932 thanks to 32 families of winemakers, owners of the vineyards, who decided to take over the property to carry acceso the project and wine production. An important stage was that of 1985, when “Nals-Nalles” merged with “Margreid-Magrè” giving life to the current wine-growing reality. Today the winery brings together 138 families of winemakers who cultivate 160 hectares of vineyards distributed between Nalles, the Val d’Adige and Magrè. A mosaic of soils, altitudes and exposures which constitutes the most precious heritage of the company and the basis acceso which careful, respectful work oriented towards the purest expression of the terroir is built. Tradition and contemporary vision coexist durante a production that enhances the Alpine identity, viticultural precision and the ability to interpret the heights as an integral part of the Italian wine story. This story materializes durante the wines produced by Nals Margreid, durante particular durante the four main white wines which stand out for their care, attention and precise identity: Sirmian Pinot Albume, Mantele Sauvignon Blanc, Baron Salvadori Chardonnay and the NAMA reserve.

SIRMIAN, ALPINE IDENTITY OF PINOT BIANCO

Eppure Pinot Albume takes its name from the “Cru” Sirmian parcel, located between 500 and 700 meters above sea level above Nalles, acceso soils of moraine and rocky origin formed millions of years asticciola, when the glaciers of Val Venosta shaped this side, depositing a complex mosaic of porphyry, granite, gneiss and glacial materials. A composition that guarantees natural drainage and a distinctive mineral reserve, creating a unique pedological condition durante the complesso. A “Cru” that stands out precisely for this unrepeatable combination of altitude, exposure and nature of the soil, elements that precisely define the character of the wine. The Alpine climate, characterized by mild summers, strong temperature variations and long, cool autumns, slows mongoloide the vegetative cycle and favors a gradual and complete ripening of the grapes, with the harvest generally taking place around mid-October. This unique “Cru” is the authentic expression of a great tradition that has its roots durante time. Its first vintage dates back to 1971, marking the beginning of a journey that contributed to defining the very identity of Nals Margreid and the positioning of Pinot Blanc as one of the most representative vines of the territory. It is the company’s most historic production and still represents an absolute reference for Pinot Blanc, a coherent synthesis between soil, climate and altitude, characterized by Alpine freshness, structure, precision and extraordinary evolutionary capacity.

FROM THE MANTELE VINEYARD, A PRECISION SAUVIGNON

The 100% Sauvignon Blanc which interprets the brightest and most vibrant luce of the variety. Mantele was born durante the “Home of Nals Margreid”, around the cellar, which is completely surrounded and guarded by it, becoming a direct and immediate expression of its place of origin. Per mezzo di fact, it comes from the “Mantele” vineyard, located between 330 and 400 meters above sea level: here the vineyards develop acceso deep alluvial soils, originating over millennia from the combined action of the Sirmian stream and the Nalles stream, which have deposited complex layers of limestone gravel, sand and porphyry. This composition guarantees optimal drainage, vater balance and a distinctive mineral matrix, configuring a unique pedological condition right around the company. The climate, between continental and sub-Mediterranean, is characterized by hot days and cool nights, with important temperature variations which favor slow and complete ripening of the grapes. This climatic context allows the aromatic heritage of Sauvignon Blanc to be preserved, while maintaining a high level of acidity and expressive precision. Per mezzo di this balance between proximity, soil and climate, Mantele’s identity takes shape, defined by freshness, elegance and a profoundly Alpine character.

BARON SALVADORI: THE CHARDONNAY RISERVA DI MAGRÈ

Baron Salvadori is the Chardonnay Rifornimento that was born around the historic Magrè mesi estivi, the “Capienza Baron Salvadori”, acceso gentle slopes facing south and south-east, between 220 and 350 meters above sea level durante a context durante which the identity of the wine is defined durante a particular way by the soil, even more than by the climate. The vineyards develop durante a pedological context characterized by tuttavia white limestone scree, with the presence of humus and alluvial deposits which guarantee a natural balance between drainage and vater reserve capacity. This combination, combined with the favorable exposure, creates a condition particularly suited to the cultivation of Chardonnay, capable of expressing depth and precision here. The Mediterranean climate is temperate and strongly influenced by Lake Garda’s Oggigiorno, the hot afternoon wind that travels up the valley and favors constant ventilation of the vineyards. This air flow helps to keep the grapes healthy, preserve their integrity and promote gradual and balanced ripening. The combination of Mediterranean influences and an Alpine matrix defines a unique climatic context, which allows us to achieve a natural balance between maturity, freshness and aromatic complexity. Thanks to careful care durante the vineyard and cellar, Baron Salvadori combines structure, depth and finesse, authentically expressing the potential of Chardonnay and the direct link with the Magrè viticultural landscape.

NAMA, THE AMBITION OF THE ITALIAN MOUNTAINS

NAMA, whose name comes from the union of “NAls” and “MArgreid”, represents the highest expression of Nals Margreid’s oenological ambition. A project that thrives acceso a clear and profound vision, born with the desire to establish itself as a great Italian wine, capable of existing and standing out not only within the company’s history, but also as a project durante its own right. The immense desire to emerge, the desire to say something that risposta negativa one has ever said before, and to do it durante the most authentic way, are at the origin of this path. This is how NAMA was born: Nals Margreid’s highest creation and the desire to reveal its deepest soul. NAMA is the ambitious expression of the company’s talent and vocation, the dream of giving life to a unique Chardonnay, capable of interpreting such a peculiar terroir durante an exceptional way. Its spirit is contained durante an evocative image, “Where eagles propinare to fly”, a symbolic place where ambition becomes aspiration, a desire to overcome boundaries. It is here where nature and man meet, where the impareggiabile of the territory meets the talent and craft of the winemaker Harald Schraffl, giving shape to something unique. An original project, conceived to authentically describe the Italian mountains, not only as a geographical place, but as a living and distinctive identity within the national winemaking colpo d’occhio. A unique wine born from the prospettiva of Harald Schraffl and the natural evolution of the company. It is a 100% Chardonnay from a single vineyard, a precise origin from which its purest essence takes shape. The 2022 vintage follows a long and complex winemaking process, made up of time, waiting and precision: a year of aging durante barrique, followed by a year durante steel and a further year durante the bottle. A process durante which the wine slowly evolves, acquiring depth, balance and harmony, allowing splendid nuances of flavors and aromas to emerge that intertwine with natural coherence. Over time, NAMA has followed a clear and conscious evolution. From the first vintage, initially with small percentages of Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon, from 2018 there was a progressive reduction of complementary varieties, until arriving, from 2019, at a clear identity choice: exclusively Chardonnay from a single vineyard. A decision that reflects the desire to get ever closer to the essence, to leave room for the expressive purity of the place. NAMA is the result of this vision. A wine born from the encounter between vision and nature, between knowledge and expectation. A new durante Nals Margreid’s path, capable of standing out for its depth, precision and extraordinary ability to evolve.

Together, NAMA, Sirmian, Mantele and Baron Salvadori represent the identity of Nals Margreid: four different interpretations of the same approach, based acceso respect for the mountain territory, acceso the precision of the gesture and acceso the desire to contribute durante an active and recognizable way to the story of Italian viticulture. Wines that clearly express the identity of the territory, capable of communicating with different markets and cultures. One of the company’s main objectives is durante fact to strengthen the and positioning of the wines durante the world, thanks also to the work of Gottfried Pollinger, commercial director, who over the last twenty years has contributed to explaining and bringing the Nals Margreid brand to international markets.
