Terenzuola or a border Vermentino

Fosdinovo is a border land and the 28 hectares of Terenzuola vineyards extend boldly between Colli per Luni, Lunigiana and Cinque Terre – contexts different from each other durante terms of soil and altitude, characterized by a clear variety of microclimates. The Terenzuola agricultural company was founded durante the 1930s, when Luigi Giuliani – who returned from New York after the crisis of ’29 – purchased a farm to grow vines, olive trees and other products intended mainly for family support and for senno local.

THE BUEN RETIRO OF IVAN GIULIANI

Born therefore as a small family business, durante 1993 it became a retreat for Ivan Giuliani – Luigi’s nephew – durante which he began to take care of the vineyards, initially combining work with studies. After his military service he decided to dedicate himself completely to viticulture, expanding the vineyards and recovering old vineyards durante the surrounding areas, thus giving a personal imprint to the activity. It is here that the bond with the territory and the vocation to intercept its still unexpressed potential is born. The production philosophy is oriented towards sustainability, with low yields and great attention durante the vineyard. There are few and measured interventions durante the cellar, with the aim of enhancing the identity of the native vines – durante particular Vermentino, which here becomes capable of sustaining time as the absolute protagonist of the production, even if accompanied by other traditional varieties. Terenzuola therefore presents itself as a border cellar capable of combining technique and territorial sensitivity, giving life to elegant, long-lived and highly expressive wines. Ivan Giuliani is the man of challenges and he demonstrates it with I Pini per Corsano. “At the beginning we were able to fill only one 10 hectoliter tank – he says – but my ideologia for this wine has always been to bring the grapes planted this land of schistose and richly acid soils to perfect ripeness, delaying it a little and often defying the weather, risking not making it. Today we manage to obtain around 1400 bottles”.

TIME IN THE VERMENTINO

Terenzuola Vermentino does not want to be consumed quickly, it does not fear time but welcomes it. Its structure, savory tension and balance between maturity and freshness accompany it to evolve gracefully. Time durante the bottle does not weaken it, rather it becomes its ally: it refines it, broadens its aromatic breath and consolidates its depth. Longevity is not an exception, but a stylistic choice, it is the strength of a wine that matures without losing energy, transforming years into character.

HEROIC TERRITORY WINES

There are two labels that represent Giuliani’s challenge. I Pini per Corsano tells of travels, historical and geological research, mass selections and knees peeled from clay schists, quartz and tuff. The 1400 bottles in che modo from 7 hectares divided into microparticles. Gora per Corsano instead recalls sea breezes calcareous, mineral and well-draining marl soils, which characterize a label that proves to be vertically tasty and with acidic tension durante all vintages.
