The importance of perfectly washing 2 million glasses at Vinitaly. I talk about it with the specialist from Electrolux Professional, technical partner of the fair – Wine Blog Roll

There is a moment, often invisible but decisive, that precedes each tasting: the moment durante which the glass is prepared. A technical gesture, apparently simple, which durante reality can determine – for better for worse – the very perception of the wine.

Over the years, also thanks to the experience gained working closely with the world of glasses, I have learned how much their management – from selection to washing – is an integral part of the quality of the service and, more durante depth, of the narrative of the wine. It is with this spirit that I accepted with interest and curiosity the invitation from Electrolux Professional Italia to collaborate during Vinitaly 2026, to talk about an often overlooked but fundamental aspect: the behind the scenes of the glass washing stations.

Here, away from the spotlight, an essential part of the tasting experience takes shape. Thousands of glasses are washed every day with continuous cycles, durante a perfect balance between efficiency, precision and respect for the material. A silent but crucial job, which allows producers, operators and enthusiasts to deal with wines served durante the best possible conditions. The role of Electrolux Professional fits into this , a global food service reality which, observing the evolution of the world of wine – increasingly central not only durante catering but also durante wine bars, hotels, cellars and wine tourism experiences – has developed specific solutions designed not simply to wash, but to preserve the purity of the glass and the integrity of the aromas.

From the stile of the Wine Line to the vision of a complete ecosystem dedicated to wine hospitality, an approach emerges that puts detail, consistency of results and sustainability at the centre. Because a perfectly clean glass is not just a technical question, but the first, essential step towards authentic tasting.

We talked about it durante this interview with the specialist Stefano Pol Bodetto, delving into the value – often underestimated – of professional glass washing and its direct impact acceso the quality of the wine experience.

Electrolux Professional is a global reference durante food service: how did your attention towards the world of wine arise and develop? Electrolux Professional has a long history durante supporting the world of catering and hospitality. Being a technical collaboratore of Vinitaly is a strong signal: what does it mean for you? For us it is a great pride to be a technical collaboratore of such a symbolic event. Our presence guarantees that each tasting takes place with perfectly clean glasses and free of residual odors, an essential aspect for those who work with wine. At the fair, thousands of glasses are washed per caso day, with continuous cycles and dedicated stations, and Electrolux Professional technology ensures very high standards and consistency of results. Vinitaly, for us, is an important stage to concretely demonstrate what it can make our technology when it’s pushed to the max.

The Wine Line is designed for washing glasses: what are the main differences compared to a traditional dishwasher? The Wine Line was created to protect and preserve the glass. Compared to traditional dishwashers it offers:

more delicate pressure, to avoid breakages microabrasions optimized temperatures and rinsing times, calibrated to the characteristics of the glass anti-stain systems, essential for professional tastings dedicated accessories, such as specific baskets for long glasses

It is a machine designed together with those who work durante the world of wine, to give a truly superior result.

How much does incorrect washing affect the perception of wine? It has a huge impact. A poorly rinsed glass one with detergent residues can alter the perfumes, aromas and even the texture of the wine. Our technology ensures a neutral wash, capable of not interfering with the sensorial experience, which is the most important thing for those who taste.

What role do temperature, rinsing times and pressure play durante washing glasses? They are fundamental parameters.

The temperature guarantees hygiene, but without stressing the glass. Rinsing times are calibrated to remove any residue without waste. The controlled pressure protects even the thinnest and most expensive glasses.

Does the Wine Line foresee will it foresee other products for the world of wine? Yes, our vision is to offer a complete ecosystem for wine hospitality. What will be the future evolutions of professional washing? We will see increasingly digitalised machines, capable of monitoring consumption, cycles and risultato durante real time. And for the world of wine, there will be increasingly more attention to detail: customization of cycles, intelligent automation and total protection of the glass.
