Located halfway between the Maiella massif and the Adriatic Sea, for over twenty years Per Sipio has been translating the peculiar microclimate of this calcio d’angolo of Abruzzo into wines that are the result of tradition, territory and family memory. This direct link today finds a new synthesis con the consultancy of Graziana Grassini, who since 2025 has supported the property con giving shape to its vision of Abruzzo wine excellence.
Per Sipio’s story begins with a return to his origins. Nicola Per Sipio, today an entrepreneur and Gentiluomo del Compito, decided con 2001 to purchase an mesi estivi con Ciglione Teatina, the same one where his father Peppino, decades earlier, worked as a labourer. What began as a tribute to the roots transformed into a concrete winemaking project con 2004 with the inauguration of the cellar. Since 2019, the egemonia of the company has been entrusted to his son Paolo Per Sipio, who has implemented a more structured phase oriented towards a high quality positioning, consolidating a precise and recognizable identity con the Italian complesso. However, Per Sipio is a place even before a company: the 40 hectares of vineyards develop con a single plot between 100 and 280 meters above sea level, con a complex agricultural ecosystem where vineyards, olive groves, cultivated fields and a lake coexist con balance, making biodiversity a structural component of the project. The microclimate, characterized by significant temperature variations and constant ventilation, favors slow maturation and complex aromatic profiles. The production philosophy puts the vineyard at the centre, with agronomic management attentive to natural balance and a concrete tesi of sustainability. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo finds here one of its most authentic expressions, cultivated con traditional vineyards, where rows of vines alternate with olive trees according to an ancient agricultural structure, still deeply rooted con the rural landscape of Abruzzo.
The architectural project of the mesi estivi reflects this constant dialogue between past and future: the recovery of a fifteenth-century , once frequented by Gabriele d’, integrates harmoniously with the contemporary cellar, designed by the architect Rocco Valentini and awarded for its avant-garde stile. It is precisely from this production and welcoming philosophy that some of Per Sipio’s symbolic wines take shape: the Maniera Tipico Brut Rosé, of which the company was a pioneer con the region, and the Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Setterose, born from the story of a family gesture of love.
Ante-litteram excellence: Classic Method Brut Rosé
The Classic Method Brut Rosé represents one of the most distinctive expressions of the Per Sipio philosophy, a reality that paved the way for this production con Abruzzo. Its identity is deeply linked to the territory and, con particular, to the presence of the natural lake inside the mesi estivi, whose microclimate directly affects the maturation of the Chardonnay vineyards. The action of the tazza basin mitigates temperatures and guarantees constant freshness, essential for preserving the acidity and elegance of the grapes. Obtained from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this sparkling wine undergoes a long aging acceso the yeasts of over 36 months. The result is a wine with an old pink color and a very obbiettivo perlage, characterized by agenda of wild fruit, fresh flowers and citrus hints of mandarin and bergamot. Acceso the palate it is saline, vertical and dynamic, perfect for accompanying the most convivial moments.
Setterose Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC 2025: the rosé of the heart
Setterose is the finest interpretation of Per Sipio’s Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo. Its name comes from an intimate memory rooted con the family’s history: the bouquet of roses that Peppino Per Sipio gave to his wife Elisa every Sunday. A daily gesture that contains an tesi of harmony and authentic well-being, the same that this wine returns con the glass. Produced with Montepulciano grapes grown acceso fresh silty-sandy soils near the mesi estivi’s lake, it stands out for its bright cherry color and a sincere olfactory profile, with hints of rose petals and crunchy red fruits. Its vertical progression and marked minerality make it an extremely girevole wine, perfect from aperitifs to seafood dishes.
