Have you ever heard of vanilla sugar? It’s nothing more than vanilla flavored icing sugar like the one you sprinkle acceso pandoro at Christmas! But how to make the recipe? Find out this article.

How to make vanilla sugar: quick and easy recipe

Per history, vanilla sugar, as a raw material, was considered a luxury until not too many centuries asticciola. Asia and the New World discovered the delicious nectar contained sugar cane long before Europe, where it slowly infiltrated the kitchens, replacing the much better known honey! But let’s discover the recipe for making vanilla sugar.

To prepare vanilla sugar at home you only need two ingredients: granulated sugar and vanilla pods. The proportion is approximately one pod for every 300 grams of sugar.

Procedure

Place the sugar the blender glass and grind it until it becomes a powder;

use a sharp knife to cut the vanilla pod lengthwise and extract the seeds, which you will add to the sugar;

keep the empty pod aside and start blending the sugar and seeds again for a few more minutes;

once you have reached a perfect powdery consistency, move the sugar into the glass jar;

cut the pod into pieces and insert it into the jar;

close tightly and leave the sugar to flavor for at least two weeks, taking care to shake the container once a day;

store the vanilla sugar a tightly closed airtight container away from sources of heat, light and humidity;

consume it within 2-3 months to avoid the risk of losing and consistency.

Storage and use of vanilla sugar

Precisely because it is obtained from icing sugar, vanilla sugar is particularly sensitive to humidity; for this reason, especially industrial products, starch is sometimes added, thus obtaining impalpable sugar.

To preserve the consistency of vanilla sugar it is therefore essential to store it an airtight glass jar away from sources of heat, light and humidity. It can be kept for about 2-3 months then we will have to make sure it is palatable. Vanilla sugar, paio to its sweet and delicate , is perfect for decorating the surfaces of desserts such as cakes, but also for the preparation of icings biscuit dough.
