Ten years have passed since that April 24, 2015, the day quanto a which Pietro Colosi discussed his degree thesis quanto a San Michele alla Adige and, just a few hours later, officially crossed the threshold of the family business ready to undertake his professional path quanto a the world of wine. An official entrance that, quanto a reality, crowned a journey that started a long time before, when as a child he spent the afternoons quanto a the cellar alongside his grandfather Pietro and father Piero absorbing his passion for viticulture and oenology.

Ten years later, Pietro celebrates his first important professional milestone retracing the changes, investments, courageous choices undertaken by the family who have profoundly transformed the company quanto a the last two decades. The father Piero, a management and organizational heart of the company, and the grandfather Pietro, an winemaker of the first productions, have transmitted values and skills that Peter has been able to reinterpret thanks to studies and experience, bringing a new energy to the cellar. “Dad and grandfather were gruff and touchy, but they had a great desire to transmit what they knew. It is thanks to them if my sister and I have decided to do this work our life and to project ourselves towards an evolution that we felt necessary. Quanto a this decade it has changed a lot: people, the way of working, the approach to sustainability and, of course, our wines,” says Pietro.

The first change was the technological enhancement: quanto a the vineyard, the complete replacement of the machine park made it possible to adopt more organic, safe and respectful processing methods of the environment. Quanto a the cellar, the updating of the equipment and the introduction of new quality standards have guaranteed cutting -edge production processes, keeping intact the link with the wine knowledge handed by grandfather Pietro.

Another fundamental step was the concrete commitment acceso the sustainability front: the installation of a photovoltaic system has made the company almost completely self -sufficient from an energy point of view, significantly reducing the environmental impact and making the Colosi cellar a and modern reality.

During this decade, the team has also changed deeply. The company today makes use of young, dynamic and highly qualified collaborators, both quanto a the vineyards of the island of Salina, where the care of the rows has become almost an art, and quanto a the cellar, where we work with great attention to quality and retail, and quanto a administration. “We have invested quanto a people, trying to create a work environment quanto a which young people could grow, train and feel an integral part of our family reality,” underlines Pietro.

Even the Colosian wines have changed: Pietro and Marianna have given a new luce to the labels, choosing a fresher and more contemporary graphic style, able to tell the history of the island and the family with a visual language capable of dialogue with the new generations of enthusiasts. From an oenological point of view, the experience acquired by Pietro during his studies and his innovative approach brought a breath of freshness to the entire range of products; The result is a collection of wines that maintains the authentic character of the territory, but with a modern and elegant style.

Among the projects that most represent this new corporate periodo there are dry head and headlight of the lighthouse, two wines that enclose the spirit and passion of the Colosi family. Dry of the capo is the first wine that Pietro made together with his father Piero, a label that marks the passage of witness between the generations and that perfectly summarizes the encounter between tradition and innovation. Guardian of the lighthouse, however, is an ambitious project that celebrates the deep bond with the island of Salina, its wild nature and the tireless dedication of the family to its land. Two symbol wines, which tell the beating heart of a company that looks forward, without ever forgetting its roots.

Looking to the future, the remains continuous growth, without losing sight of the values that have always distinguished the Colosi family. “Dad has always taught us that ‘it takes a life to build and a second to destroy’. This principle guides every choice: to build with patience and dedication, one step at a time, how it is done with the walls that resist the time”, explains Pietro.

Sicily has been theater of the Colosi family’s wine production for over 80 years, a story that begins quanto a a small village of the suburbio, San Pier Niceto. Since then the company has never stopped, acceso the contrary, the new generations have allowed the cellar to grow and become a solid reality, established all over the world, so much so that at the end of the 90s the family decided to expand also acceso the island of Salina with 13 hectares of ownership. The production today stands at around 500,000 bottles overall and uses more cutting -edge technologies to be able to give its products a organoleptic profile quanto a full compliance with the characteristics of their territoriality.
