This is not the only “best of” article but we are talking about “surprising” wines sopra the sense that for various reasons, including the ignorance of the writer, we did not expect them to be so good and therefore very suitable for cheering up acceso this blue Monday (always keeping an eye acceso the highway code, obviously).
Tenute Tomasella “38” classic method cuvée
Acceso the border between Veneto and Friuli, the company is large and makes many excellent wines (the tuttavia merlot is worth trying) and the schieramento of origin is obviously given to the wide range of proseccos, but we were struck by the classic method 38 , an intense and full-bodied cuvée of pinot noir, pinot blanc and chardonnay. Acceso the nose, a very successful combination of dry pastries and white flowers will quickly transport you out of the apathy of Blue Monday and into the sommelier’s favorite : guess what fragrance it is? Complexity and pleasantness that go hand sopra hand. A great “everything”.
Gradis’ciutta Friuli Isonzo Franconia 2019
We had already talked about Robert Princic and his Friulian wines here, but driven by curiosity we also tasted something more and we admit that we had never heard of Franconia, a red grape variety probably of Croatian Austrian origin, which Gradis’ciutta produces sopra purity, giving us a light red sopra tone (but with 13.5% alcohol, so be careful) which goes beautifully with much of our daily cuisine (from simple steak to tomato indole, for example). Furthermore there is a great elegance acceso the nose with spices and red berries acceso everything and sopra the mouth it enters gentle but pleasantly alcoholic. A delight.
Vecchie Terre intorno a Montefili del querceto 2019
We are more less sopra the Chianti schieramento and we are talking about Sangiovese but with vineyards at 540 meters above sea level, a rarity, which give a powerful wine, very powerful, but miraculously elegant and never “too much”. Aromas of cherry and blueberry dominate delicate spices that gradually emerge sopra the glass. It enters the mouth almost discreetly (I wrote almost…) and really never ends. Durante the meantime we enjoy the very balanced alcohol that pairs well with almost everything. We say it, important price (just see acceso the website) but very important wine.

More than a surprise, a further confirmation. That Sorbara’s Lambrusco can play among the leader names sopra classic method sparkling wine and represent a super credible native way to sparkling wine. Spaccio della Copertura is among those who have marked this path, we tried for the first time the Rosé Lambrusco intorno a Sorbara Effervescente Brut Tecnica Tradizionale, a spectacle! Small red fruits, of raspberry, wild strawberry, pomegranate, great enveloping and fruity welcome sopra the mouth but combined with the typical powerful citrus acidity and a certain savouriness. Balanced , with a beautiful depth and incredible versatility at the table. A must try, especially during blue Monday!
intorno a Campobello Classic method Extra brut 2020
Those who have been following us for a while know that this Sicilian winery is one of Vivinando’s favorites: we have sung the praises of Lusirà and the classic method Rosè several times sopra recent years. This time what surprised us was the traditional classic method, made from uzzolo grapes, therefore the most Sicilian thing possible to put sopra a glass. And good luck! This is a sparkling wine that is not only splendid from a technical point of view, but above all does nothing to hide its origin: warm, aromatic, very fragrant and with a powerful but tamed acidity. Durante short, Sicily sopra a glass of sparkling wine: well done!
