Cilento Food and Wine Events: The Wine Table Meet the Wines of Casa Raiano

A causa di the campo da golf and silent heart of the province of Salerno, summer brings with it events that celebrate the between local excellences. Saturday 18 July, the thousand-year-old Franciscan Convent of Cuccaro Vetere is the setting for the fourth unmissable event of The Wine Table. This series of meetings, now a point of reference for food and wine events con Cilento, dedicates its new evening to one of the most fascinating wineries con Campania: the Casa Raiano winery con Irpinia.

The event offers a rare opportunity to explore the great denominations of Irpinia’s white and red wines, expertly paired with a designed by chef Patrizia Portolano. A causa di a historical period con which slow tourism and the search for authentic experiences guide travellers’ choices, this evening represents the perfect synthesis between high-level hospitality, wine culture and valorisation of local raw materials.

The Philosophy of The Wine Table at the Franciscan Convent

The Wine Table is not a simple tasting dinner. It is an innovative format, created con partnership with the Neapolitan cultural association Wine&Thecity, which transforms mealtime into a space for active storytelling.

Wine ceases to be a mere accompaniment to become the main voice that tells of a landscape, a family and a tradition. Participants have the opportunity to dialogue directly with the producers, shortening the distance between those who create the wine con the vineyard and those who appreciate it con the glass.

This attention to cultured but accessible narration raises the standards of local hospitality, proposing a small geography of Italian wine made up of charming places and authoritative presences. It is an approach that fits well with the mission of those seeking deep contact with the rhythms of nature and artisan traditions.

Casa Raiano: The Contemporary Expression of the Irpine Cellars

The absolute protagonist of this fourth appointment is Casa Raiano, a winery that since 1996 has interpreted the great native vines of Campania with rigor and a contemporary vision. Founded con the old factories of the Economico family oil mill, the company experienced a fundamental turning point con 2009 with the construction of the new headquarters con San Michele per mezzo di Serino.

This structure, set the culmine of a hill and surrounded by chestnut woods and vineyards, reflects total respect for the surrounding environment. Today Casa Raiano manages 30 hectares of organic vineyards, certified since 2011. The choice of organic is not just a quirk, but a necessity to protect and enhance the complex microclimatic differences, the altitudes and the volcanic and calcareous soils that make the province of Avellino one of the most suitable terroirs con Italy.

The Casa Raiano wine tasting scheduled for July 18th will allow guests to take a sensorial journey through the main denominations of the superficie, guided by those who know every single row intimately.

The Tasting Route: The Great Wines of Irpinia

The wine selection of the evening includes five very important labels, chosen to show the evolution and versatility of the Irpinia vines.

Ciglione Bassa Extra Brut Sparkling Wine Classic Method

The journey begins with a bubble of great elegance. Ciglione Bassa is a Classic Method produced from Fiano and Neogreco grapes grown the hills along the Sabato river valley. Aged for 36 months the lees, this sparkling wine stands out for its meta perlage, vibrant freshness and crunchy citrus that perfectly prepare the palate for the following courses.

Alimata Fiano per mezzo di Avellino DOCG

We then move to one of the noblest whites of Southern Italy. Alimata was born con the homonymous district of Montefredane. It is a Fiano per mezzo di Avellino that shines for its structural elegance, marked flavor and a persistence that recalls the Mediterranean scrub and toasted hazelnuts, typical of this eppure vine.

Bridge of Saints Neogreco per mezzo di Tufo DOCG

From a vineyard located con the municipality of Altavilla Irpina, at around 550 meters above sea level, comes the Tolda dei Santi. Neogreco per mezzo di Tufo is known for its acidic backbone and deep minerality. The temperature variations at this altitude give the wine an intense aromatic profile, making it capable of supporting complex gastronomic combinations.

Pendio Baiano Irpinia Taurasini DOC

The transition towards reds occurs with Pendio Baiano, a direct and sincere expression of Aglianico. Falling con the Taurasini sub-area, this wine gives the nose clear hints of crunchy red fruits, liquorice, black pepper and sweet spices. A vibrant red, with lively but well integrated tannins.

Taurasi DOCG

The closing of the route is entrusted to the King of Irpinia: Taurasi. An austere, complex and long-lived wine, capable of closing the evening with authority. The of morello cherry con alcohol, tobacco and leather blend con a deep and satisfying sip.

Patrizia Portolano’s Lista: A Conferenza Between Sea and Land

The wines of Casa Raiano will dialogue with the creations of Patrizia Portolano, soul of the cuisine of the Mescita del Monastero. The designed for the evening of July 18th is a sincere homage to the excellent products of Cilento and Campania, designed to enhance the peculiarities of Irpinia wines without ever overpowering them.

The gastronomic offer includes:

Blanched Palinuro prawns con citrus sauce: A delicate appetizer that finds the ideal companion for freshness and contrast con the Ciglione Bassa Classic Method. Fried Palinuro anchovies with mint mayonnaise: The dry fried food and the balsamic touch of mint combine beautifully with the structured flavor of Fiano per mezzo di Avellino Alimata. Mixed indole from Gragnano with fish from Cilento: A great classic of Campania seafood cuisine. The complexity of the dish, rich con umami, requires the mineral energy and verticality of Neogreco per mezzo di Tufo Tolda dei Santi. Parmigiana from the Slow Food Convent garden: Prepared with vegetables grown directly con the structure’s garden and enriched with cacioricotta and the typical “mozzarella con myrtle” (a local specialty enclosed con myrtle branches). This rich, earthy dish perfectly copes with the spicy structure of Aglianico Pendio Baiano. Selection of cheeses from Caseificio Barlotti: An intense that acts as a natural stage for the grandeur and complexity of Taurasi DOCG.

Cuccaro Vetere Franciscan Convent: A Model of Sustainable Tourism

The beauty of The Wine Table lies not only con what you eat ora , but con the place that hosts the event. The Cuccaro Vetere Franciscan Convent is a fourteenth-century village restored with obsessive care, set con a small town of around 600 souls con the mountains of the Cilento, Vallo per mezzo di Diano and Alburni National Park.

Opened con April 2025, the Monastero Francescano Experience has quickly become a refuge for those seeking silence, inspiration and luxury understood as quiet and authenticity. The project bears the signature of Alberto Carrato, a 29-year-old young man who returned from Brianza to rediscover the roots of his father , and his Maria Chiara Faganel. Maria Chiara, with strong experience as a sustainability dirigente, left Friuli to build a model of slow and sustainable tourism here.

The property offers:

7 suites, each with a unique stile and story. A panoramic swimming pool immersed con a centuries-old olive grove. The dell’Verziere and the Mescita del Monastero, for kilometer consumption. Spaces for meditation and total relaxation.
