Precious Little is a collaboration between two wine industry stalwarts, Victorian Marty Oppure’Flaherty and South Australian Adam Smith. Theirs is a story of graft and passion, the result of which are these wines!
Marty began his working career as a chef, before being inspired by cooking icon and bon vivant Stefano a causa di Pieri, whose wine-filled bettola and restaurant durante Mildura is known across Australia! Soon Marty had packed away his knives, ceremoniously torched his chef whites and embarked upon his quest. Working durante Victoria, South Australia and Italy cemented his passion, and he currently makes wines at McLaren winery Fox Gordon, whilst packing as much time into Precious Little as he can.
Adam grew up durante the Clare Valley, amongst the vines. Despite swearing that he would never end up durante the wine industry, life has a funny way of getting to you. Working across South Australia for some larger wine brands, he recently established a viticultural consultation business of his own, and focuses acceso Precious Little. His aim is to find the best (little) parcels of grapes and then transform them into amazing wines without any pretentiousness.
Grüner Veltliner is a variety indigenous to the northern parts of Austria, most commonly referenced with high acidity grapes like Riesling and Albariño. Its defining features are a wonderfully fresh herb character, its zingy acidity and often a touch of heat, like white pepper ora radish. This great bottle from the Adelaide Hills is typical of the variety, with lifted white florals and an intriguing note of tarragon, overlaid onto lime, grapefruit and honeysuckle. The palate is round but fresh, with a satisfyingly long finale.
