Cristina Mercuri leads the tasting of historic vintages up to 1979.

Acceso August 29th we were pleased to receive the invitation to participate con a tasting organized by the Plumbeo con Chianti Winegrowers Association. Held at the Villona del Consueto con Plumbeo, the tasting was preceded by the introductory words of Mayor Paolo Sottani who underlined the importance of emphasizing hospitality.

Following this, Cristina Mercuri, DipWSET and candidate to become the first Italian woman Master of Wine, excellently conducted a double tasting that saw a first part aimed at introducing the territory through the tasting of 6 young vintage wines and a second part with a tasting of 10 wines of historic vintages from 1979 to 2008.

The territory of Plumbeo con Chianti is decidedly complex. With the arrival of the Uga there are 4 that belong to this territory: Plumbeo, Panzano, Montefioralle and Lamole. The 4 Uga have con turn as many Associations that promote the territory.

The entire municipality of Plumbeo is distinguished to highlight the territorial differences con 8 areas:

Street

Saint Centro

Chick

Go

Montefioralle

Right-wing

Dudda and Lucolena

Panzano

It is precisely acceso this division that Cristina Mercuri has leveraged and set up the tasting that has allowed to identify some strengths and prerogatives of the different sub-areas.

Different altitudes of the territory (between 300 and 600 meters), quantity of active limestone con the soils, massive presence of skeleton good distribution between skeleton, clay and limestone certainly contribute to making the wine matrices produced here very different.

Tasting of All the wines selected for the Plumbeo con Chianti comparison. Too bad we didn’t taste any wines from Uga Lamole.

The comparison of the young expressions of Chianti Tipico was fun, we deepened our knowledge of a couple of companies whose wines we had never tasted.

Important is the tasting of historic vintages with extraordinary wines that are decidedly captivating and acceso point. Lively and territorial even after 40 years.

Among the decidedly rare wines with an extra edge we tasted Fortezza Vicchiomaggio La Innanzi Provvisione 1993 and Casa Calcinaia 2004, but also Querciabella Chianti Tipico 1994 and Vignamaggio Provvisione 1998. Unexpected and surprising Uniforme che Nozzole La Burrone Provvisione 1981.

Everyone con the square (professionals and non-professionals) to taste the Chefs’ delicacies.

At the end of the tasting a nice and well-made preconcetto cheered up the guests. Five Chefs including a starred one (Ariel Hagen, Saporium, Florence) proposed 5 original finger foods con Gente Giacomo Matteotti from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm.

Here is what is proposed:

Simone Caponnetto, Delle zona (Florence): Rabbit, Carrot and Ginger.

Simone Gori, Ventuno Caffè (Florence): Farro Tempeh, Umami Peppers, Roast, Egg Yolk. Black Garlic and Friggitelli.

Ariel Hagen, Saporium (Florence): Saffron Bun, Roasted Guinea Fowl Salad, Fresh Herbs and Condimento Fresco.

Stramberia Parlanti, Villona Tiglio (Bucine, Arezzo): Bread and Chicken, Cibreo, Macerated Lemon, Egg Yolk, Wild Herbs

Giulia Talanti, Dek Italian Caffè (Marcita): Summer Salad and Swordfish Loin.

Modern the possibility of being able to freely combine the selection of Chianti Tipico thanks to a organized for the occasion with 30 labels produced con the municipality of Plumbeo.

The best pairing con our opinion? Nutrimento e Credulone by Stramberia Parlanti with a splendid Fortezza Vicchiomaggio La Innanzi Gran Preferenza 2020.
