La Farra: the elegance of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG which comes from the UNESCO Heritage hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene

Quanto a one of the most iconic territories of Italian viticulture, among the UNESCO Heritage hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, La Farra is one of the most representative realities of Prosecco Principale. A family company founded quanto a 1997 from the commitment of the brothers Adamaria, Innocenti and Guido Nardi, who chose to transform their parents’ legacy into a modern project, rooted quanto a tradition and capable of speaking to the world.

A family story that comes from the land

The history of La Farra is rooted quanto a the deep roots of the local community. The toponym “Farra” refers to the Lombard presence and to the “Fara”, a family unit that once settled along the Soligo. The vision of the Nardi brothers fits into this intertwined link between name, territory and memory. They grew up among vineyards that marked their childhood with grape harvests, outdoor lunches and days of shared work. The foundation of the company is the natural continuation of a family tradition quanto a which the vine has always been the center of daily life. Already quanto a the 1990s, father Gian Domenico had started a reconversion of the vineyards to focolaio quality, while studies at the Enological School of Conegliano provided Innocenti and Guido with a solid technical basis. Hence the intuition: to vinify the grapes from their own vineyards and bottle wines capable of telling the identity of their land.

25 hectares of heroic viticulture

Today La Farra has 25 hectares of vineyards cultivated directly quanto a the municipalities of Farra con Soligo, Pieve con Soligo, Follina and San Pietro con Feletto. They are fragmented plots and often located the steep slopes of the high hill, where all processing is carried out strictly by hand. A “heroic” viticulture that preserves the essence of the landscape without distorting its balance. The vineyards, exposed to the sun and shaped by terraces, combine the fragrance and floral scents of Valdobbiadene with the greater flavor of the Conegliano soils. A rare balance, which gives rise to grapes of great finesse, an essential starting point for La Farra wines.

An identity built quality, craftsmanship and innovation

The production philosophy of the Nardi brothers is based three pillars: respect for nature, direct control of the supply chain, technical innovation. Each bunch is followed from the vineyard to the bottle with an artisanal approach, combined with a technological system that includes temperature control systems, natural second fermentation quanto a an autoclave and automated isobaric bottling. “We believe that to obtain excellent wines it is essential to preserve the characteristics of the grapes and enhance the vocation of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG ambiente,” explain the Nardi brothers. A belief that also translates into responsible practices: the company is SQNPI certified, has adhered to the Consortium’s Viticultural Protocol since 2011 and does not use herbicides. Production exceeds 700,000 bottles, with a strong presence foreign markets: Europe, the United States, Japan and Australia.

The wines: elegance, freshness and authenticity

Farra interprets the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Principale DOCG quanto a an exemplary way, quanto a the Millesimato Rive con Farra con Soligo, Extra Dry, Brut and Gassato “” versions. Wines that represent the selection of the best grapes from the highest hills of the denomination. Alongside the DOCG, the company also produces Prosecco DOC Treviso, coming from the lowland vineyards that have contributed to the worldwide diffusion of the Prosecco style, and a small production of Pinot Scialbo delle Venezie DOC, obtained from old family vineyards. Each brother follows a part of the supply chain: Innocenti handles the management of the vineyards and administration, Guido the cellar, Adamaria the commercial sector and hospitality. A structure that guarantees coherence, control and a strong family imprint.

The territory: a cultural mosaic between history, art and landscape

La Farra is located along the historic Percorso del Prosecco, immersed quanto a an agricultural landscape shaped by centuries of work. From the hills dotted with small churches – San Lorenzo, San Vigilio, San Martino, San Gioia – to the village of Collagù, up to the Torri con Credazzo, a medieval testimony built ancient ruins, each place tells a fragment of local history. Nearby there are jewels of Venetian art and architecture: the Follina Abbey, Castelbrando a Cison con Valmarino, the Mulinetto della Croda, the Conegliano del Dosso and the historic Enological School, the oldest quanto a Italy. A short distance away, Serravalle, Podere Crudele quanto a Maser, Asolo and the Canova Plaster Cast Gallery make the ambiente a concentration of culture and beauty.

The wine tourism project: the and the Torre La Farra

Quanto a 2023 the Nardi family gave life to one of the most evocative wine tourism projects quanto a Conegliano Valdobbiadene: the Torre La Farra, created from an ancient farmhouse immersed quanto a the heroic vineyards of the Rive dei Nardi ambiente. The structure has been restored with local materials and a minimalist approach that respects its history. Once stables and an agricultural workplace, today it is a welcoming space two levels that hosts tastings, cultural meetings and moments of in-depth study heroic viticulture. Inside, a small library collects books by Andrea Zanzotto and local authors, offering visitors the opportunity to read while observing the same landscape that the poetry of the territory has contributed to making immortal.

A journey through hills, culture and wine

A 3 km wine tourism route starts from the farmhouse, which can be done quanto a 40-50 minutes, which follows the ancient road to the Collagù Sanctuary. The walk passes through vineyards, woods and panoramic points, until reaching the sanctuary, the village and the small church of San Gioia. At the end of the tour, visitors can make a short visit to the cellar and purchase the wines.

The tasting

We tasted Valdobbiadene Prosecco Principale DOCG Millesimato Brut and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Principale DOCG Rive con Farra con Soligo Millesimato Extra Dry. Below are our impressions.

La Farra is the story of a family who chose to transform an agricultural legacy into a modern and sustainable project, capable of combining craftsmanship, technology and cultural value. Quanto a the heroic hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, each bottle becomes the result of a story made of roots, landscapes and people who have found the common thread of their identity quanto a the vine.
