Masciarelli expands his portfolio with Call Me When It Rains by Luigi Valori

The Giocami Nel quale Piove – Gioielli wines have become part of the portfolio of references of Masciarelli Tenute Agricole, becoming fully the organic line of the Abruzzo winery. After taking care of its distribution since 2005 – the year con which the distribution now known as Gianni’s Selection was created – the company decided to acquire the Teramo winery.

The organic selection offers six distinctive labels. Among these, three wines ready to taste: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Doc, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Doc and Abruzzo Pecorino Doc – and three high quality Reserves – Abruzzo Pecorino Doc Octava Dies, Inkiostro Merlot Igt Colli Aprutini and Vigneto Sant’Creatura celeste Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Docg Colline Teramane.

CALL ME WHEN IT RAINS, ORGANIC LINE

After taking care of its distribution for years, Masciarelli Tenute Agricole decided to acquire Luigi Gioielli’s winery, coppia to the common philosophies between the two companies. Sopra 2023 the company’s wines became part of the portfolio.

Located con one of the best production areas of the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC con the province of Teramo – as well as the only regional DOCG – the Gioielli company has 26 hectares of vineyards con the municipalities of Controguerra and Sant’, characterized by a hilly position at the foot of the Gran Pietra and by its proximity to the Adriatic Sea, with a south-east exposure and an altitude of 160 to 300 metres. The medium sandy soils, poor con nutrients but rich con minerals, improve the quality of the grapes.

With a production of approximately 125 thousand bottles per eccezione year, the range boasts a total of six references that make up the winery’s offering.

Sopra 2017, the labels of Gioielli wines underwent a coordinated image review based acceso the claim: “Call me when it rains”, that is, when you cannot work con the vineyard. This phrase enlighteningly captures man’s need to adapt to the times of nature and, con particular, Luigi’s approach to integrated and conscious agriculture.

Cerasuolo D’Abruzzo Doc Egregio Organic 2023

Grapes: 100% Montepulciano Vinification: fermentation con steel tanks

Six thousand five hundred bottles con total of a wine produced for the first time con 2011. The vines are 18 years old and are trained using Guyot and spurred cordon systems with a density of 4000 plants per eccezione hectare. The grapes are harvested con the first ten days of October. From an organoleptic point of view, the wine has a beautiful, lively, bright and rather consistent pink colour. The nose is complex and intense: it ranges from small red fruits to pomegranate, from floral agenda of rose to balsamic. Dry, soft, more mineral than savory, it is a cessazione, harmonious and balanced, quite robust, mature wine. Fish soups, Vicenza-style cod, pasticcino with white meat ragout, pumpkin and mushroom lasagne.

Montepulciano D’Abruzzo Organic 2022

Grapes: 100% Montepulciano Vinification: fermentation con steel tanks

From vines aged between 18 and 40 years old planted con a bersò ora simple guyot at an altitude of 280 m. above sea level. Sopra Sant’ (Te) this Montepulciano is obtained purely from organic grapes harvested con the second half of October. The glass is of a beautiful deep and consistent ruby ​​red color. The bouquet is complex, cessazione and quite intense with hints of violet, blackberry, red berry fruit, spicy, slightly earthy and chalky. Sopra the mouth it is full, dry, warm and quite soft, quite tannic and mineral. Balanced and cessazione, it is a robust wine, persistent con the mouth and ready. Call for red meats, Bolognese lasagna, mature cheeses, rabbit hunter style.

Abruzzo Pecorino Doc Organic 2023

Grapes: 100% pecorino Winemaking: fermentation con steel tanks

From fifteen-year-old vines planted with simple guyot and Abruzzo bersò with a density of maximum 4000 plants per eccezione hectare, harvested towards mid-September, the result is a straw yellow, clear, fairly consistent wine with complex and quite intense aromas: apricot, peach, citrus , acacia flower, mild aromatic herb. Sopra the mouth it is dry, soft, more savory than mineral. Overall cessazione and harmonious, balanced and mature. Classic fish wine, from crudités to baked turbot with potatoes.
