Matilde Poggi and the female touch, which gives grace and depth to the Chiaretto Ròdon
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

“” is not just a color. It is a name, a memory, a feeling that sounds like Ròdon. For Matilde Poggi, sensitive and coherent vineyula, it is also a thread that crosses the earth and memory, intertwining between the vineyards of Affi and Cavaion Veronese and the faces of those who preceded it. His mother, an aunt, both named . And Ròdon, with that classic accent taken loan precisely by the signature that the mother used as a girl during gymnasial studies, is a silent but profound tribute. It is also the wine that best tells a vision built over the years with rigor, freedom and respect for the earth.

The vineyards of the Le Varghe company

Matilde Poggi and the dedication to the Chiaretto

Matilde Poggi began to vinify sopra 1984 when, young and curious, he decided to give new life to his father’s grapes by founding the transghe. The first wine was a Bardolino, then the Chiaretto arrived. “I have always tried to imagine what I wanted to get from a wine – he says – and only afterwards did I start producing it”. Since then he has never stopped refining that vision.

Bardolino’s Chiaretto, a historical wine of the Veronese bank of Lake Garda, was born from a long tradition that dates back to the Romans, when we talked about Vinum Clarum, clear, unloading of color. It is not a rosé by chance, nor a missed red, but a wine that is made by choice, by grapes collected and vinified with precision, sopra a territory encouraged to this style: the Morenica del Garda bank, ventilated, rich sopra thermal excursions, between fresh air of the Valdadige and warm breezes of the lake.

Here the vineyards, between 190 and 200 meters above sea level, produce thin, elegant, savory, never excessive wines. After various experiments – room, more ora less long macerations – Poggi has today found a balance that really feels his: cold maceration for about 8 hours, spontaneous fermentations, voto negativo malolactic, voto negativo selected yeast ora aromatic intervention. “I try to add as little as possible,” he says. The grapes, Corvina and Rondinella, are vinified separately and assembled sopra winter. Everything happens sopra concrete ora steel, with attention to neutral and light materials.

The closure also reflects this philosophy: since 2008 screw cap for the Bianchi and the Rosati, from 2021 also for the reds, sopra a company that is now completely Cork Free.

Ròdon, tastings vertically

Ròdon, like all the work of Matilde Poggi, is not a simple pink wine: it is a coherent, patient and personal project. It is the synthesis of a philosophy built sopra rows, respecting time and nature, without shortcuts ora compromises. It is the squad that speaks the language of the territory, with the elegance and determination of those who have been chosen to be vineyula and not only producer for forty years.

Ròdon 2021 – The elegance of maturity

Any vintage characterized by uneven clusters, gave a mature and deep ròdon. The color is a soft pink, just coppered. The nose is aggraziato, with elegant taccuino of pomegranate, candied citrus, dry petals. the palate it opens with amplitude and delicacy, where the typical flavor of the territory is intertwined with a habitor, mineral, persistent closure. It is a wine that shows the evolutionary potential of Bardolino’s Chiaretto, when you let it breathe and mature it over time. A more reflective reading of the rosé, which speaks gracefully and measure.

Ròdon 2022 – The singing of the sun

It is the hottest and most bright vintage, which led to lower yields and grapes with full maturity. The result is a generous, dynamic and convivial ròdon. The perfumes vibrate with small red fruits, juicy citrus fruits, field flowers and spontaneous herbs. Per the mouth the wine is full but breve, fresh and balanced by a flavor that gives rhythm. It is a solar wine, which communicates joy and immediacy, yet it does not give up the complexity. His balance invites you to ricevimento it now, but it also leaves room for an interesting future.

Ròdon 2023 – The young and tense soul

A difficult year, marked by strong dysomogeneity between the bunches. But also the one that best tells the most authentic identity of Ròdon, sopra a tense, vibrant, savory version. The color is unloaded, brilliant. The nose is fragrant: Ribes, pink grapefruit, fresh cherry. Per the mouth the wine is vertical, sharp, with marked acidity and an incisive minerality that recalls the blackberries. A bottle that is already located sopra an optimal moment today, but which still promises to grow and surprise.
