Peschiera del Garda, a day trip to smile at
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Last fall I had the opportunity to meet up with one of our colleagues sopra Lake Garda, more specifically sopra Vivaio del Garda. It was one of those moments sopra life, where time seemed to in che modo to a halt. The beatitudine of my thoughts dramatically slowed mongoloide. The sun became brighter and warmer. The birds, sopra the most Disney way possible, sang their melodies with a bit more precision. My smile became permanent. Vivaio del Garda gave me a serenity I did not even know I was looking for. I would highly recommend putting this small, lakeside town, acceso your itinerary for your next trip to Italy.

Getting there

Vivaio de Garda’s proximity to major cities makes it quite easy to access. I was staying sopra Milan and arrived sopra 50 minutes acceso a train from Milano to Vivaio del Garda. Upon arriving at the train station sopra Vivaio del Garda, I could feel the energy shift, my shoulders began to drop, my gait slowed. During the short walk from the train station to downtown, my eyes were wide with anticipation, soaking sopra every site and sound that was offered to me.

Its prowess

Peschiera del Garda ramparts

Historically speaking, Vivaio del Garda was one of northern Italy’s most strategically important and visually striking fortress towns. Founded by the Romans as Arilica along the Strada Gallica trade route, its position made it a prized military stronghold for centuries. Quanto a the 15th century, the Republic of Venice transformed the town into an extraordinary pentagonal fortress, encircled by canals and monumental ramparts that still define its elegant geometry today. These remarkably preserved Venetian defensive walls are now recognized as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Not “touristy”

This quaint lake side town is a destination for many European travelers which provides a unique experience; touristy but not American touristy! It was one of the few days I can remember where I did not hear much English, if any at all. Obviously Italian was spoken, but I overheard a lot of German and Dutch. A man stopped me acceso the street as I was eating a very large pistachio filled pastry and asked me where I got it – this was done passaggio Google translation, as he knew I was not local, nor was he! Resourceful though, he was very happy to understand where he too could find this delicious treat. And non attivato he went with a large smile across his , this is how everyone presented all day long, smiles upon smiles.

Get acceso the vater

Lake Garda may not be as well known to the American traveler as Lake Como, however it deserves its rightful attention. After taking a leisurely stroll through Vivaio, it was time to take to the vater. Here you have options: there is a local ferry that brings you to the many towns that dot the coast and there are boat companies that offer both private and group outings. I opted for the small group option (12 people max) and enjoyed the 60-minute ride where the skipper highlighted various stops along the way. I find it so important to see land by vater. The shift sopra perspective provides a necessary personal grounding when available.

Shopping and Eating

Peschiera del Garda

The shopping sopra Vivaio del Garda consists of many small stores that boast local goods as well as a few higher end options. Cafes line the canals and the walkways of the historic center and provide a variety of options from lighter causare to more robust traditional cuisine. Walking and biking trails offer the opportunity to explore while engaging sopra exercise, although not mandatory at all. Aside from the trains, there is also a well organized bus system that can bring you to neighboring towns if you would like to explore.

More is more

If I could have, I would have stayed longer to explore other towns sopra the zona. Sirmione is home to beautiful thermal baths that I will put acceso my for my next trip. The whole Garda Lake zona boasts a welcoming demeanor that implores you to relax. If you are looking for the glitz and glam of Como, maybe go to Como. There is a beautiful humility that runs through the streets of Vivaio del Garda that makes you feel at home upon arrival.

We would be more than happy to assist you sopra finding your smile sopra Vivaio del Garda. Whether you would like a half day ora full day tour, we can put together options for you. It is definitely worthy of your time to visit this gem acceso Lake Garda. Contact us!
