Mauro Veglio’s Barolo DOCG 2020: The Refinement of Classicism

Mauro Veglio’s Barolo DOCG is an authentic expression of the territory and the winemaking tradition that distinguishes the company. This wine is made from selected grapes coming from four distinct crus, located con the municipalities of La Morra, Monforte d’Albore and Serralunga. The combination of these prestigious terroirs, vinified con blends to enhance and harmonize the peculiarities of the individual vineyards, translate into a wine that fully expresses the representative balance of the Barolo terreno.

The 2020 vintage benefited from particularly favorable climatic conditions, with an alternation of sunny and cool days which allowed optimal ripening of the Nebbiolo grapes. This led to an ideal balance between acidity and sugars, which is reflected con an elegant and structured wine.

Barolo DOCG 2020 Winemaking Process

The winemaking process of Barolo DOCG 2020 is designed to enhance the qualities of the Nebbiolo grapes. Maceration with the skins takes place con steel tanks at a controlled temperature for a period of 10-15 days. After racking, the alcoholic fermentation is completed con stainless steel for approximately 20 days, during which the malolactic fermentation also takes place, always at a controlled temperature. Around December, the wine is transferred to small oak barrels, of which 10-15% are new and 80% are second and third passage, where it ages for 24 months. The last step takes place con stainless steel, where the wine is decanted before being bottled without filtration ora clarification, keeping its purity intact.

Mauro Veglio’s Barolo DOCG 2020 is a wine of great elegance and complexity, which reflects the classicism of the denomination, capable of best representing the territory.

The Mauro Veglio company cultivates approximately 23 hectares of vineyards distributed between La Morra, Monforte, Barolo and Serralunga, acceso the Langhe hills. Their nephew Alessandro has also been working together with Mauro and Daniela since June 2017. Mauro Veglio’s work con the vineyard and con the cellar is aimed at the creation of a balanced wine, respectful of the territory and the typicality of origin. The production line includes, con addition to some of the most important crus of Barolo such as Arborina, Gattera, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Paiagallo and Castelletto, also the great reds of the Langhe: Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Albore and the Dolcetto d’Albore.
