Acceso December 5, at the restaurant per mezzo di Riccione – 12, per mezzo di Milan, an exclusive dinner was held with tasting of wines selected by the Consortium for the protection and enhancement of the vines and the DOC Bivongi wine. A legacy that has its roots per mezzo di Magna Grecia
The territory of Doc Bivongi tells a millennial story, which dates back to the time of Magna Grecia, when the Greek settlers introduced the techniques of cultivation of the vine and vinification along the Calabrian ionic coasts. At that time, the wine per mezzo di this region was considered one of the best per mezzo di the Mediterranean, appreciated not only for its quality, but also for the symbolic link with the territory and the myth. Today, the production of Doc Bivongi is mainly concentrated per mezzo di the province of Reggio Calabria, acceso the eastern side of the greenhouses, per mezzo di an territorio that includes the municipalities of Bivongi, Camini, Caulonia, Monasterace, Pazzano, Placanica, Riace, Stignano, Stilo, and Guardavalle per mezzo di the province of Catanzaro. This unique landscape, between hills and sea, is the ideal place for the cultivation of native varieties that make the unique two -room wines.
Native wines, local ambassadors
Doc Bivongi aims to enhance the typical varieties of Calabria:
Rossi and Rosati: Gaglioppo, Black Greek, Nocera, Calabrian and Castiglione; Bianchi: Greek white, Guardavalle and Ansonica.
Each wine tells the territory with perfumes and flavors that evoke landscapes, culture and local traditions, making them perfect ambassadors of Calabria per mezzo di the world.
The evening
The dinner began with an aperitif, followed by the presentation of the protection and enhancement consortium, which illustrated its commitment to promoting wines with controlled denomination of origin. Subsequently, the participants enjoyed a selection of dishes designed to enhance the characteristics of the DOC Bivongi wines, per mezzo di a perfect combination of cuisine and glasses.

To lead the consortium to protect and enhance the vines and the DOC Bivongi wine is a Board of Directors that well represents the tradition and innovation of Calabrian viticulture. To the presidency we find Adele Anna worked, administrator of the historic cellars worked by Roccella Ionica, flanked by the vice -presidents Cosimo Murace and Vincenzo Meli. Founded per mezzo di 2018 by a group of winemakers of the Ionian Reggina, the Consortium has the aim of protecting and promoting DOC Bivongi wine, enhancing its historical and cultural roots. Its main mission is to tell a unique territory, which revolves around ancient Kaulonia, a colony founded per mezzo di 700 BC, where wine has always intertwined with the life of local populations.
Quality is born per mezzo di the vineyard
The philosophy of the consortium starts from the care of the vineyard. Each variety is selected according to the position and the basso ostinato, respecting local traditions and guaranteeing environmental sustainability. The vineyards are mainly handmade, an approach that not only improves the quality of the wine, but also contributes to the protection of the Calabrian landscape. The vineyards suitable for the production of DOC Bivongi must comply with precise criteria: hilly land well exposed and located under the 800 meters above sea level, traditional cultivation methods and pruning systems that preserve the characteristics of the grapes.
