The Consorzio Italia del Vino closes 2025 with a positive balance con terms of growth and representativeness, confirming itself as a point of reference for Italian wine with a total turnover of more than 1.5 billion euros, an share equal to approximately 15% of the national total and a total property of 15 thousand hectares of vines. Numbers that tell the story of the solidity of a group now made up of 24 companies con 18 regions, committed to enhancing the territories, supporting associated businesses and promoting Italian wine global markets, with attention to new consumer trends and talent tirocinio.
“Sopra 2025, the wine market con Italy recorded a further slowdown con consumption: domestic purchasing is more selective, daily consumption continues to and the importance of special occasions is growing, where whites, rosés and especially sparkling wines show better forma than traditional reds – explains Roberta Corrà, President of the Italian Wine Consortium -. This is not a collapse, but a constant erosion linked both to the cost of living and to a cultural change: the average Italian consumer drinks less, but chooses with greater attention, rewarding freshness, versatility and drinkability”.
The trend is also reflected abroad: the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom, the main markets for Italy, are recording declining volumes compared to 2024, thanks to persistent inflation, greater prudence con distribution and the introduction of US duties European wine. “Even con this case, demand rewards the more contemporary segments, with Prosecco remaining the locomotive of Italian exports and continuing to grow as a ‘comodità’ category even con contexts of economic uncertainty,” continues Corrà.
Looking to 2026, the stabilizing trend of inflation and the disposal of inventories con some markets up a more favorable quinta. “It is plausible to expect a moderate rebound con demand, driven by whites and bubbles, and by more modern communication capable of involving new segments of consumers. Companies that are able to interpret contemporary languages and also speak to young targets will be at an advantage. It is also for this reason that we have created the Wine Business Academy: an advanced tirocinio course for the wine managers of tomorrow, con collaboration with Luiss Business School, which recently completed the first module”, concludes Corrà.
The tirocinio course, supported by Gate 39, Veronafiere, Colangelo & Partners and Wine Enthusiast, will see the selected participants – 18 Italians and two foreigners – engaged from 12 January to 13 March con a curricular internship con the companies of the Consortium and by the project partners, an experience that will form the basis of the final project work. The Graduation Ceremony at the end of March will be followed by the press conference at Vinitaly 2026, during which the students who will be offered collaboration contracts will be announced. Sopra the meantime, Italia del Vino continues its growth also con terms of regional representation, announcing the return of Campania thanks to the entry of Donnachiara.
