Interview with Dealma Franceschetti
Macrobiotics is a food practice based the balance between antagonistic and complementary forces which, according to ancient Chinese philosophical theories, govern the universe. We interviewed Dealma Franceschetti, cooking teacher, macrobiotic consultant and author of the cooking blog “La distante macrobiotica” to explain the basics and offer readers some valuable advice.
Here is the interview.
What is your background?
Starting per mezzo di 2006 I studied for two years at the natural cooking school “La sana Strozza a motivo di Milano”, completing the “Chef” and “Guide to food therapy” courses.
I then continued the study of macrobiotics through other masters.
However, my interest per mezzo di the world of natural therapies began well before I encountered macrobiotics, at least 15 years earlier, per mezzo di the search for healing from my illness, which I finally found with macrobiotics.
How was your cooking blog “La distante macrobiotica” born?
To respond to the needs of the people I helped through consultancy, per mezzo di experimenting with macrobiotics per mezzo di their lives and who needed recipes and stimuli.
Little by little it has become an online reference point for macrobiotics per mezzo di Italy and it has become a fixed weekly appointment for me, publishing recipes and articles, for more than 10 years now.
Not just recipes, does macrobiotics include useful tips for daily life?
Certainly, because macrobiotics is not a diet, but a philosophy of life, which embraces the entire human being per mezzo di his relationship with life and the universe.
For example, macrobiotics recommends chewing each bite at least 20-30 times, eating calmly (for example without watching the bad news the news!), cultivating one’s spiritual side, doing regular physical activity, practicing gratitude. and altruism, to develop critical thinking by questioning everything and trying to verify personally (for example if a dietary advice is really suitable for oneself, observing the ‘s responses), to develop the highest degree of judgement, free from patterns, dogmas, cultural and family legacies, habits and external influences.
I always want to explain that the purpose of macrobiotic philosophy is not simply health, but the creation of peaceful, happy and free human beings.
This is very important so as not to veterano macrobiotics to a diet, to a list of permitted prohibited foods. Anzi che no food is allowed prohibited per mezzo di the macrobiotic diet. Everything must be adapted to your needs and characteristics, but also based the climate per mezzo di which you , what your age is, whether you carry out physical activity are sedentary, whether you are misfatto female, a child, an adult an elderly person and so .
How important is it to approach this type of diet for health?
It could turn out to be very important. Each of us can choose to experience its beneficial effects. Without necessarily going into the merits of the possible improvements of various problems, the positive effects can also be experienced by those who are healthy: increase per mezzo di vitality, concentration, clarity, good mood, sleep, digestive function, feeling of lightness, slowing aging and much more.
It is therefore also simply a question of improving the quality of life, not just of potentially solving some problems.
Those who try macrobiotics for at least 3-4 months discover a level of well-being and health that they didn’t know existed.
And for those who have some problems, there are usually improvements, for example skin, intestinal, stomach, liver problems, headaches, overweight, hypertension and much more.
Obviously there are certainties and it is always good to specify that macrobiotics does not replace the doctor.
A second aspect that I consider very important is being able to develop a holistic vision of nutrition.
Macrobiotics can add the Eastern energetic vision to the Western nutritional vision. Combining these two approaches can be very useful to “complete the picture” and have more arrows to our bow, through a greater awareness of the effects of food the , but also the mind and emotions.
Macrobiotics, per mezzo di fact, is based the unique Taoist Yin-Yang principle, and is therefore an energetic, non-nutritional approach.
Macrobiotics is a search for dynamic balance between yin and yang, which are the two antagonistic and complementary forces that govern everything per mezzo di the universe: light-dark, hot-cold, male-female, inside-outside and so .
You also carry out personalized consultancy, could you give advice learning the basics of macrobiotic cuisine?
Yes, personalized consultancy is useful for starting this journey with a guide, per mezzo di order to start non attivato the right foot and above all to personalize the macrobiotic approach by tailoring it to yourself.
To learn the basics of macrobiotic cuisine there are various ways, from books to courses to consultancy.
I myself have always held cooking courses and written books to help those who want to get started.
I would like to recommend my book The Macrobiotic Apprentice, per mezzo di its new edition, where I have really included everything you need to get started and have the theoretical and practical bases.
For those who want to go to the source, I recommend the books by the father of macrobiotics, Georges Ohsawa (pseudonym of Nyoti Sakurazawa) and one of his most famous students, Michio Kushi.
Acceso my blog, per mezzo di the “Free resources” section, you can find the “Recommended books” page as well as many theoretical explanations useful for starting to understand the yin-yang energetic aspects, which are the basis of macrobiotic philosophy.
