Prestigious international recognition for sustainability goes to the Emidio Pepe farm Torano Novità Teramo. During the Golden Vines ceremony at the Opéra Garnier Paris, the Abruzzo winery was awarded the Gucci Sustainability Award. An award that every year celebrates the wineries that hold a comando position encouraging and practicing sustainable activity, both the vineyard and beyond”. The awards will be assigned by a jury made up of over 1,000 wine professionals from all over the world, including 27 Masters of Wine and 22 Masters Sommeliers.
“The historical commitment to the land and agriculture has consolidated a deep understanding of the terroir and has led to the production of wines that are the elevation of a place and true expression of a territory, linked to a strong tradition for more than 60 years”, we read the reasons provided by the jury commission.
And again: “The careful development of agricultural practices according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture – before these became popular – allowed Emidio Pepe to create wines with an enormous aging capacity, so much so as to be recognized globally as iconic and timeless,” the judges continue. “The virtuous measures implemented the company’s agricultural field to cope with climate change represent a valuable future vision”.

“Since the first harvest we have never changed the winemaking method, fact even today machines are used. This is not only to respect tradition but also because we are convinced that treating the grapes with delicacy and manual skill is the best way to achieve a level of highest quality and precision”, we read the company website: www.emidiopepe.com
