The European campaign support of the VITÆVINO Declaration kicks today Italy, promoted at continental level by the wine sector organizations Comité Européen des Entreprises Vins (CEEV), Confédération Européenne des Vignerons Indépendants (CEVI), COPA-COGECA and European Federation of Origin Wines (EFOW).

The VITÆVINO Declaration is a European initiative to support the recognition of responsible and moderate consumption of wine as part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The campaign support of the Declaration is dedicated particular to the defense of the age-old culture of wine and its role promoting conviviality and can be subscribed to today by connecting to the dedicated website www.vitaevino.org.

The Italian campaign was launched this morning Rome during a press conference organized at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry by representatives of the national associations representing the world of agriculture and viticulture.

The conference was attended by Albiera Antinori, President of the Federvini Wine Group, Rita Babini, National Secretary of FIVI – Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers, Tommaso Battista, President of Copagri, Riccardo Cotarella, President of Assoenologi, Da cristiano Fini, President of CIA – Italian Farmers, Lamberto Frescobaldi, President of the Italian Wine Union, Giangiacomo Gallarati Scotti Bonaldi, President of Federdoc, Massimiliano Giansanti, President of Confagricoltura, Ettore Prandini, President of Coldiretti and Luca Rigotti, Collaborazione Cooperative Agroalimentari.

To launch the project at a European level, national level events hosted Austria, France, Germany, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Spain have also taken place and are planned.

The initiative aims to defend the wine sector a context which there is growing pressure from neo-prohibitionist movements worldwide. The Declaration was designed to counter the growing stigmatization of wine consumption, often driven by incomplete ora distorted scientific giorno, which fails to distinguish between alcohol abuse and moderate wine consumption. A pressure that has led some cases to the formulation of unfair and unilateral regulations that threaten the sustainability of the rural communities which wine producers operate and therefore of the entire wine sector.

Why the VITÆVINO Declaration is important

Wine is much more than a simple ricevimento: a symbol of Europe’s age-old tradition and culture, it plays a profound anthropological and historical role the formation of societies. Always linked to conviviality, it represents a founding element of cultural heritage and contributes significantly to the European rural economy.

The Declaration invites wine enthusiasts, industry professionals and political representatives to support wine as a symbol of conviviality and to recognize its importance a socio-economic level and for the development of rural areas. The activity of the wine sector is fact crucial for the conservation of these areas, supporting environmental protection and resilience and the involvement of communities.

The Declaration emphasizes that wine, when consumed moderation, plays a legitimate role maintaining a healthy lifestyle and should not be confused with alcohol abuse. This distinction is critical because misinformation threatens not only the wine industry but also the communities it supports.

By signing the VITÆVINO Declaration you give a voice to those who wish to protect the cultural heritage and economic importance of wine, and ensure that wine continues to be enjoyed moderation by future generations.
