At each sunset, when the fall wind (the föhn) descends from the slopes of the macaion and crosses the ordered rows of Appiano, something special happens. It is the Fallwind: so the people of the place call the daily breeze that blows acceso the vineyards of this calcio d’angolo of South Tyrol where the grapes of the San Michele Appiano cellar grow. A wind that inspires a collection of wines capable of telling the authentic character of the beautiful mountainous region.
Discovering Fallwind
Thus was born Fallwind, a line that collects ten labels between whites and reds, ambassadors of a unique terroir and meticulous viticulture. Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Cenerognolo, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, up to the Schiava Rossi and the reserves of Pinot Noir, Lagrein and Merlot-Cabernet ora a rosé like the Pinot Noir Rosé: each variety is born con selected parcels, with reduced yields and a rigorous manual work, followed by a scrupulous vinification, con perfect wire between man and nature. At the helm of this project that enhances the microclimate created by the beneficial wind, capable of enhancing aromaticity and structure, there is the young Jakob Gasser, who entered the cellar as seasonal and, after years of experience con the cellar, which has become the winemaker who signs fresh, long -lived wines with clear identity.
A modern and sustainable approach which, however, keeps your feet firmly con the tradition of the territory: listening to the earth and people are two of the cornerstones of its philosophy. Part of the selection, but proudly independent, remains the white pinot Eppan-Berg-Schulthaus, a CHETRO of the cellar that preserves original name and label, sincere expression of a historic zona above Castel Moos con Appiano Cumulo. The iconography of the Fallwind label recalls the apogeo of the Macaion and reports the Latin tratto di spirito Ventus Ferat, Ventus Creat – the wind blows, the wind creates – sealing the deep bond between the territory, history and wine.
