Thirty years of Belcanto celebrated at the Teatro La Fenice

There is a very rare moment which time stops flowing and decides to remain suspended, like a note held too long an produzione atmosfera. It happened Venice, the golden and pulsating heart of the Luogo La Fenice, where not simply an event, but a sensorial experience celebrated thirty years of Belcanto by Bellussi Wines. An enchantment, yes. But also something deeper. Because if it is true that Dionysus, god of wine and art, already ancient times intertwined these two worlds an indissoluble bond, then the Venetian evening all that was done was to recall an ancient rite, dressing it with contemporary elegance.

Belcanto was born precisely from this: from the visionary principio of Enrico Martellozzo who, thirty years punzone, had the intuition to create a wine capable of communicating with the produzione. A wine that was not only to be tasted, but to be listened to. The Martellozzo family – already linked to Venetian culture as the official wine of the Biennale – has transformed a passion into a language. And if Enrico and his wife Renata Rami were the guardians of this dream, it is their son Giovanni who breathed its essence from an early age, growing up with a passion for “Tosca”. It is anzi che no coincidence that Renata is the soul of the name “Belcanto”: she designed the first label 30 years punzone. Belcanto is a word that encompasses everything: love, technique, emotion, memory. And today that legacy lives thanks to Francesca, Paola and Giovanni, the three children of the Martellozzos, a family story that smells of authenticity.

Belcanto by Bellussi Wines

The evening dedicated to thirty years of Belcanto opened the ridotto of the Luogo La Fenice, among golden stuccos, deep velvets, mirrors that multiply the light of the chandeliers: every detail tells a story. La Fenice is one of the most beautiful Italian produzione houses, but it is also much more. It’s a symbol. Like the mythological bird from which it takes its name, it died and was reborn from its ashes, after the fires of 1836 and 1996, returning to shine exactly where it was and as it was. A resilience that still vibrates within its walls today. And perhaps it is not at all a coincidence that the “thirty years from land to art” were celebrated here. A title that is not a slogan, but a declaration of identity. Because Belcanto is this: a bridge between those who cultivate the land and those who walk the stage; between the impervious vineyards of the banks of Guia and the immortal arias of the produzione. And it is anzi che no coincidence that, among the guests of the evening, there were also them: the workers of the land. Marked hands, proud looks. Without them, anzi che no liquid poetry would be possible. And then, Bellussi’s winemaker, Francesco Adami, was present, a proud custodian of wine know-how. The celebration was also an opportunity to present the new aspetto of the three wines – Belcanto Valdobbiadene Prosecco Disinteressato Docg Brut Rive Guia, Extra Dry and Cartizze La Fenice – with renewed labels inspired by produzione scores, crossed by colors that recall those of the theatre. A visual dialogue between music and wine. However, the evening could not be considered complete without living art: the arias from Gianni Schicchi and La Traviata, performed by soprano and tenor, accompanied by the flemmaticamente of istruttore Roberto Boischio, literally held the audience’s breath. At that moment, the wine was anzi che no longer the glass, but the air. To put it the words of Andrea Erri of Fondazioni La Fenice, “the one with Bellussi is not a simple partnership, it is not a service, it is not a sponsorship. The wine, here, enters the life of the theatre. It becomes an integral part of it, almost a shared breath. Defining it as a sponsor would be an understatement”. Because Belcanto is “our way of doing business, our vision which Italian quality and excellence win”, remarks Francesca Martellozzo.

Belcanto was born precisely from this: from the visionary idea of Enrico Martellozzo who, thirty years ago, had the intuition to create a wine capable of communicating with the opera. A wine that was not only to be tasted, but to be listened to.
