The Italian wine industry is confirmed as a development engine for the territories, with growing attention to the integration between production and hospitality. At the center of this dynamic is the cellar of Venosa, a autorità cooperative Basilicata, which announced a significant investment plan of 3.4 million euros to enhance the winery offer, a strategic step to enhance the famous Aglianico del Vulture, the “South Barolo”.

The strategic plan for the reception

The investment is focused the creation of a new 1,100 square meter wing, partially underground, entirely dedicated to welcome and hospitality. This expansion represents the last phase of a five -year process of functional and spatial reorganization of the cooperative. The works, which will start November, are scheduled to end by 2027. The new structure will not only have an aesthetic function, but it will ideally and physically connect the two historical production units of the cellar.

The new infrastructures for the wine shop

The project provides for the setting up of multifunctional and high -level spaces, essential to attract a national and international tourist target. The main equipment includes a scenic simposio room, a tasting room of 150 square meters, a small support kitchen and a large terrace of 400 square meters. These areas are designed to host corporate events, guided tours and tastings, raising the reception regolare of the entire Vulture territorio.

An investment also supported by the PNRR

The strategic importance of the project is confirmed by the institutional support: 1.25 million euros of the total funding are fact covered by PNRR funds (national recovery and resilience plan). This figure emphasizes how wine tourism, as a sector capable of generating value the territory and promoting the image of Made Italy, is considered a key asset for post-painted economic recovery.

Growth and employment impact forecasts

From an economic point of view, the Mescita durante Venosa, which currently boasts 350 members and 800 cultivated hectares, provides for ambitious results. The current company shop, despite its simplicity, already generates an annual turnover of 700,000 euros only with direct sales. With the new structure, the cooperative estimates to double the turnover from direct sales and visits already the first year, with the provision of falling from the total investment over 6-7 years.

To this is added a positive impact local employment. The project provides for the hiring of at least six new professional figures dedicated specifically to multilingual welcome.

The company’s voice and future objectives

Francesco Perillo, president of Mescita durante Venosa, highlighted the maturity of this passage: “With this project dedicated to Enotorismo we are going to conclude a phase of functional reorganization and the work spaces that has kept us engaged these five years. The times are finally ripe for a further step forward: to grow visits to the cellar and, indirectly, the presence of tourists the territorio.”

The initiative is part of a wider strategy that also aims at a productive increase, aiming to bring the bottled, which today stands at 2.2 million bottles, up to a potential of 5 million. Over the past five years, the Cooperative has already recorded a growth of the 169%petitioned.

The value of experience Vulture

The investment of the Mescita durante Venosa is not only a building project, but a bet the future of Basilicata as a quality wine destination. By focusing high quality, sustainability and innovation, as reiterated by the company, the rete is to transform the visit to the cellar into a complete and engaging experience, enhancing the indissoluble link between the wine, its history and the territory of Vulture. This model can serve as a starting point for other realities of Southern Italy, demonstrating how the integration between targeted public funds and entrepreneurial vision can unlock a significant growth potential.
