It was presented today, Sunday 6 October, at Edificio Bovara, as part of the Milan Wine Week – the nine days dedicated to the world of wine which comes to life per mezzo di the Lombard capital from 5 to 13 October – Wine List Italia 2024: the second and renewed edition of the first guide per mezzo di the world that celebrates and gives voice to the best sommeliers of Italian catering. A stazza that this year expands the list of experts involved – double compared to last year – by entrusting 100 TOP sommeliers with the story of the 10 essential references per mezzo di their wine list.
A wine for every moment, pigeonholed into 10 distinct categories: The intelligent choice, The Sommelier’s discovery, The memorable vintage, An international perspective, A taste of the territory, The roots per mezzo di the glass, Pink label, The ethical choice, A dolce sip, wine by the glass.
The result is a review that includes 1,000 prestigious labels carefully selected and described, of which 855 in che modo from every calcio d’angolo of the country and 145 abroad. A one-of-a-kind initiative that promotes the work of the professional sommelier, enhancing the variety and uniqueness of quality wines the national and international stage. To accompany the presentation of the stazza, a series of exclusive Masterclasses aimed at sector professionals, signed by some of the wineries and protagonists of the wine world – among which the “Casato Cotarella” events stand out – and an unmissable WalkAround Tasting scheduled for Sunday 6 October, per mezzo di two slots, from 3pm to 9pm, aimed at enthusiasts and professionals per mezzo di the sector (tickets Vivaticket).
THE GUIDE ACCORDING TO THE CREATOR AND EDITOR
Created by Federico Gordini, president of Milan Wine Week, and Paolo Porfidio, Head Sommelier of the Terrazzo Gallia per mezzo di Milan, Best Sommelier per mezzo di Italy 2023 according to Corrispondenza Golose, as well as coordinator of the project, Wine List Italia is part of the range of proposals of the “event of wine” which offer, the one hand, a fundamental reading tool for the consumer and, the other, a thermometer of wine list selection trends for sector operators.
“Wine List was created with this objective: to shed light the daily work of some of the most important sommeliers and selectors of quality Italian catering, who, thanks to the Guide, become opinion leaders recognized by consumers and professional models of inspiration for young apprentices for the first time per mezzo di the world of the room”, says Federico Gordini, president of Milan Wine Week. “A sector that currently sees a shortage of trained professionals and requires new recruits to protect the future of quality catering and, consequently, of wine consumption. Sommeliers are per mezzo di fact responsible for a percentage ranging from 30 to 50% of restaurant turnover, which makes it easy to understand how crucial their role is for the future of the wine sector”.

THE WINE LIST PROJECT
Aimed at producers, oenologists, sommeliers, restaurateurs and wine enthusiasts, the project acts as a platform to learn about, taste and discuss the best wine products, passing through the fundamental story of professionals per mezzo di the sector. A format that aims to enhance the importance of the figure of the sommelier within the wine supply chain and which, thanks to the success of the last edition, by 2024 will grow to embrace the entire national territory, attracting authoritative sommeliers from the North, Center and Southern Italy.
With Wine List, the unique editorial project – published by MWW Vendemmie – joins a great tasting event taking place today per mezzo di the Milan Wine Week venue, Sunday 6 October per mezzo di two time slots, from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm and from 6.00 pm to 9.00pm. A Walk-Around Tasting set up within the spaces of Edificio Bovara (Strada Venezia, 51, Milan) and the adjacent Edificio Castiglioni, where the 100 sommità sommeliers protagonists of the guide demonstrate their expertise with a high-profile Grand Tasting. An exclusive selection of labels, created specifically for the occasion, to discover the style, identity and, above all, the professionalism of each sommelier.
THE 100 TOP REPRESENTATIVES OF ITALIAN SOMMELLERIE
From North to South, passing through Central Italy, from young talents to award-winning masters: the Wine List Italia team of sommeliers boasts a varied and highly competent portfolio of professionals. Among the 100 wine masters co-authors of the Guide, there are faces already known to the wine scene, such as Marius Dumitru (Difficoltà.Ri.Na* , Olgiate -VA), awarded the title of best sommelier per mezzo di Lombardy per mezzo di 2024; the Veronese Gianluca Sanso ( Cracco per mezzo di Loggia – Milan), who has been working alongside Chef Carlo Cracco since 2018; the Neapolitan Sommelier Salvatore Maresca who lends his great experience to the Maresca* Restaurant per mezzo di del (NA), one of the most prestigious establishments per mezzo di the Campania Region; and again Andrea Gionchetti (Qafiz Restaurant*, Santa Cristina d’Aspromonte – RC), famous for his attention to local wines from Calabria and for his ability to create innovative food & beverage combinations.
Numerous promising young people took part per mezzo di the project, providing a current and new generation point of view. Among these, the signatures of Matteo Durante Lernia ( Pinchiorri***, Florence) and Marco De Signoribus ( Alcione 3.0*, Flotta nato da Grosseto -GR), respectively born per mezzo di 1998 and 1999, appear, Gabriele Bianchi ( Procaccini Milano*, Milan), recognized among the 100 young leaders under 30 per mezzo di the food & ricevimento sector per mezzo di 2022, and Nicolas Bertuletti ( Tre Gobbi, Bergamo), born per mezzo di 2000, the most of the Milan Wine Week wine list.
The passion for wine is also a woman’s. Behind the bench of the “jury” of Wine List Italia, a large group of professional selectors, including: Dirigente and Head Sommelier Mara Vicelli (Acanto Restaurant, Milan) among the most renowned professionals of the Italian dining room; the Wine Dirigente Jessica Rocchi (Andrea Aprea * at Luigi Rovati – Milan), the Head Sommelier Federica Madre (Coppia Colombe – * at Vetusto, Borgonato nato da Reggia Franca -BS), Cristina Pinciroli, professional of Lombard origin to the experience of Emilian declino dining, he works as a sommelier at Edificio Utini, Noceto (PR). And again, the Head Sommelier Marianna Romano ( Santandrea*, Amalfi – SA), among the most authoritative voices per mezzo di the world of wines from the Amalfi Coast, and Sofia , sommelier at the Energicamente Village Resort per mezzo di Santa Margherita nato da Scoria. Last but not least, the young and talented Bianca Modonesi, born per mezzo di 1997, sommelier at the degli Assonica* per mezzo di Sorisole (BG).

855 Italian wineries and 145 foreign wineries, of which 90 are French, make up the vast mosaic of the Wine List selection, each assigned to a specific category. A wine for every occasion, every pocket and every palate: here are the 10 different categories with which the sommeliers review and carefully select their wine proposals, describing the oenological excellence of the Peninsula, Europe and overseas.

THE MASTERCLASSES FOR OPERATORS DEDICATED TO WINE LIST ITALIA
Among the stars of the world of wine, the cameo of Riccardo Cotarella, world-famous winemaker and co-founder of Casato Cotarella, one of the main wine companies per mezzo di Italy, could not be missing. Cotarella has received numerous international commendations for his contributions to the world of wine, including advising over 100 wineries around the world. Acceso the occasion of Wine List Italia, he will hold a Masterclass aimed at sector operators Monday 7 October from 10.00 to 11.15 at Edificio Bovara. Also Monday at 11.45am will be followed the appointment with the Ca’ del Foresta Masterclass: “A unique vertical to discover Ca’ del Foresta”, with which Andrea Menichetti and Maurizio Zanella, founder and president of Ca’ del Foresta, will bring the public to discovery of its unique history, which intersects with that of the territory per mezzo di which it was born, Franciacorta. An exceptional vertical of the most famous Reserve: Annamaria Clementi. Four historic vintages with a final surprise.
Following, at 2.30 pm, it will be the turn of the San Radioso event entitled “Poggiorosso: The essence of a single vineyard. The strength of a timeless wine”: a masterclass conducted by the oenologist Leonardo Bellaccini dedicated to the tasting of eight selected vintages of this historic Sangiovese Cru, from 1999 to 2020, 21 years of evolution to discover a wine that is not afraid of flowing of time.
The day’s program will conclude with the Berlucchi Franciacorta Masterclass: “The Reserves Told”. Alessandro Ramagini, commercial director of Berlucchi Franciacorta, and Ferdinando Dell’Aquila, the company’s winemaker, will lead an exclusive vertical tour of 4 vintages from the winery’s private archive.
