Wine: the most awarded Tuscan labels in the world
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

After the records achieved quanto a 2022 and the decline quanto a 2023, the numerous awards won by Italian wines at the important Concours Mondial de Bruxelles once again confirm the comando of Italian wineries quanto a wine production, and quanto a particular they crown Tuscany as the most awarded Italian region.

The medals of Italian labels: Tuscany quanto a the lead

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (the most prestigious wine sector competition quanto a the world) reached its 30th edition this year: the competition was a further confirmation of the quality of Italian wines, which brought home 365 podiums, of which 9 Grand Gold Medals, to further seal the prestige of our winemaking tradition. Tuscany was the region with the most wines quanto a the competition (228), it was also the most rewarded with 80 medals won.

Among the most awarded Italian wines, after Tuscany, alla maniera di those from Sicily (49 medals), Apulia (42), Piedmont (27) and Veneto (25). Two Italian wines also won the international podium quanto a the revelation category: a Lazio blend of Chardonnay 40%, Sauvignon blanc 40%, Trebbiano 20%, Satrico 2022 from Borgata del Giglio, awarded the Grand Gold Medal, and an Apulian red produced by Claudio Quarta Winemaker: Moros 2019, Salice Salentino Doc based Negroamaro, Grand Gold Medal, awarded as “National Revelation for the best red wine”.

There were also many unexpected victories, such as a white Mexican and a red Bulgarian who obtained the highest scores quanto a their category.

The success of selling wine online

The victories at the Brussels competition are a breath of fresh air after a period quanto a which the of Italian wines suffered a setback, mainly caused by inflationary reasons which caused exports to fall. From the analysis of the Ismea-Uiv Observatory Istat giorno foreign trade, relating to exports of Italian wine quanto a the first quarter of 2023, it emerged that it is above all PDO bottled still wines that are quanto a difficulty (-5.3% quanto a quantity but +2.5% quanto a value), sparkling wines (-3.2% opera and +7.3% value) and Prosecco (-5.5%).

Per this context of decline, however, a positive glimmer comes from sales distante eCommerce: during the lockdown, quanto a fact, the online market of large-scale retail trade experienced a growth of 250%, and quanto a two years the online wine business even tripled quanto a volumes . The digital purchasing channel is therefore confirmed to be highly appreciated by consumers. Not surprisingly, it has several advantages: first of all the possibility of purchasing the best bottles, such as Tuscan wines from the most prestigious wineries, online, with the convenience of choosing them directly from your home and receiving them quickly thanks to companies well structured like Bernabei, which can ship throughout Italy within just 24 hours.

The primato quanto a 2022

Contrary to what is this year, however, 2022 saw the of Italian wine reach goals never achieved before, with a value of around eight billion quanto a turnover, 12% more than the year previous; 2022 went so well thanks to a series of factors, such as the euro-dollar exchange rate which was favorable and offset production costs, the recovery of tourism which increased consumption and the positive approach taken quanto a the comparisons with new emerging markets such as Thailand and Vietnam.

For the future, the hope is that the sector, despite the difficulties and imminent challenges to be faced, will return to growth at the pre-Covid placidezza.
