Sopra 1395, Filippo II of Burgundy, called the daring, banned the cultivation of Gamay grapes from the region by declaring them poor and ignoble (indeed, literally “Très Mauvais et très desilyaus”, bad and unfair). For the growers of the nearby Beaujolais, who were quite fond of us, it was a real ; A bit like when your older brother puts a sign the door of his room with written : “Whoever enters dies!”. The call for Philip II towards this grape variety had many consequences. For several centuries, fact, while the red wines of Burgundy earned their reputation of almost holiness, that of the Beaujolais was destined to remain, so to speak, a wine little more than “fun”. Well. As far as I’m concerned, Mr. Filippo “Call me the daring” can remain sitting as much as he wants his beautiful castle, issuing proclamations and speaking to the wall. Personally I love having fun, and I believe that the simple wines of the Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages denominations are the light reds par excellence, with their intense hints of berries and spices, excellent to taste cold and therefore perfect for picnics and outdoor parties. Without a shadow of a doubt, they are much more interesting than 90% of dry rosés circulation. Sopra addition, the ten Cru of the Beaujolais, which correspond to the best villages the region, offer something even more prestigious. I speak of multifaceted reds, which maintain a touch of lightness while reaching remarkable complexity and depths. But perhaps it is Thibault Liger-Belair, producer of extraordinary wines both Burgundy and Moulin-à-Vent, the north of Beaujolais, the one who best summarizes this story: «After finishing his studies here 1996, I rented an old house immersed among the vineyards. Starting from that moment, I admired every morning the breathtaking beauty of the landscape every time I opened the window. I understood, then, that such a wonderful land could never have produced a bad wine ».

Domaine Les Grypées Cuvée Centennaire Les Balmes Beaujolais 2020se, the label, reports nothing but Beaujolais, this red with the scents of undergrowth and spicy taccuino actually comes from a small vineyard planted almost a century pungiglione. There are great depths and complexities, more than the humble name can make you think.

Domaine de la Madone Beaujolais-Villages Le Perréon 2020olivier and Far bruno Bererd are the two brothers who cultivate the centenary screws from which this brilliant wine comes and with a light pagliaccetto, with intense taccuino of raspberry. The grapes are collected by hand, since the slopes of the vineyards are such that a tractor would seriously risk overturning.

Trénel Beaujolaisvillages 2020il Négociant Trénel founded its company 1928, and since then it has produced both Burgundy wines and Beaujolais. But the flagship of its selection is this creamy Beaujolais-Villages and the rich bouquet of red fruits. To do this, 38 villages the region assemble.

Château du Moulin-à- Vent Moulin-à-Vent 2019 Professor, spicy and with a fruity flavor of cherry and rhubarb, this excellent Moulin-à-vent comes from a seal that includes an ancient stone wind mill of over two centuries. The same that gives its name to the prestigious namesake name. The Couvent des Thorins of the same company, cheaper but also extraordinary, also deserves a taste.

Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais-Villages Les Vignes de Lanignié 2020la most of the vineyards of Jean-Marc Burgaud is Cru Morgon. Sopra this cuvée rich lively taccuino of forest strawberries and shades of pepper, however, there are also grapes with four vital hectares surrounding a twin century château Lanignié, just outside the Cru zona.

Thibault Liger-Belair Moulin-à-Vent Les Vieilles Vignes 2020 explofed of raspberry and a velvety texture distinguish this refined Cru by Beaujolais, the result of a blend of grapes from old screws from the Thibault Liger-Belair mesi estivi, cultivated with a biological method. Liger-Belair also produces several excellent minivorous, which is worth tracing.

Château des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent 2019 The Historical Fondi poured into difficult conditions when the Louis Jadot company, a reference point of Burgundy, purchased it 1996. Since then the wines have improved considerably. This elegant gamay with vivid purple shades, persistent flavor of berries and slight hints of anise, is a brilliant example.

Château Thivin Côte de Broouilly 2020i vineyards of the Côte de Broouilly cloaks the slopes of the Mont Broouilly, an ancient Vulcano non attivato, inside the largest denomination from which they take the name. Thivin is undoubtedly the largest producer this zona. The 2020 vintage is elegant and mineral, with hints of plum and cherry.

Domaine Richard Rottiers Moulin-à-Vent 2018Chard Rottiers, one of the emerging young talents of the Beaujolais, cultivates its vineyards with a biological method Moulin -à-Vent since 2012. The grapes from old vineyards have given a rich and stratified red, with taste net of small fruits, like black cherries, to whom it is impossible to resist.
