D’Avalos, Incòmodo and Gesualdo, the three bottles of the Gesualdo selection of su Venosa inspired by sixteenth -century passions and flirts
The bottles of the Gesualdo selection of su Venosa, inspired by sixteenth -century passions and flirts, celebrate the charm of history and music with a special oenological trio. Perfect for spending the week of Italian song quanto a sweet company, these wines evoke the story of three characters linked to the village of Venosa, quanto a Basilicata.
The first wine of the selection is the white “d’Avalos”, produced by Greek white grapes and dedicated to Maria d’Avalos, a Neapolitan noblewoman and wife of the prince of Venosa. Following, the heart of the selection, represented by the “Gesualdo”, a Aglianico of Vulture DOP that bears the name of the Prince and composer Gesualdo con Venosa. To complete the trio we find the rosé “incòmodo”, obtained from Merlot grapes and dedicated to Fabrizio Carafa, Duke of Andria and lover of Maria d’Avalos. The name recalls the uncomfortable position of the man between the noblewoman and the husband.
su Venosa, founded quanto a 1957 by 27 members, today has 350 winemakers, over 50% young people, and manages 800 hectares of vineyards. It produces a total of 2 million bottles acceso a potential of 5 million, with 21 labels mainly of Aglianico del Vulture Doc and Straordinario Docg.
The Gesualdo selection is a tribute to the winemaking tradition of Vulture and Renaissance music, with a reference to the madrigalist who also inspired Disinvolto Battiato quanto a 1995 with the song “Gesualdo con Venosa”. An intertwining of history, music and passion, to taste glass after glass.
